This place is great just like the one in flushing
The staff here seems a little rude compare to flushing
However still great all you can eat bbq/hotpot
Finally a hotpot buffet place in Elmhurst. About half a year ago when I saw this place in construction, I was so happy when I heard it was going to be a hotpot place. Its funny cuz when I first looked at Elmhurst years ago I thought we were missing a hotpot and barbeque place.
The food is great and the service is pleasant. The decor and the ambiance is gorgeous. I'm glad were expanded. Plus one for Elmhurst.
Would I recommend this place to my friends? This might be my new favorite hotpot place.
I have never been to other locations so i dont have anything to compare this to but my friends say the one in flushing is better. For my first experience here i enjoyed it. The only problem is service is still slow and it shouldnt be considering that this place just opened and it's brand new. First impressions are a big deal
3.5
With how dark the tinted windows were, it was hard to get an idea of what this restaurant was. I told my friend the other day about how iCook had recently opened and with no knowledge of what iCook was, we decided to walk right in.
Once we walked inside, a staff asked what we wanted: BBQ … Hotpot or both. I thought to myself, what a nice surprise, finally a BBQ/Hotpot in the area. We opt for the BBQ.
There was a decent amount of choices (of meat, seafood & veggie) to choose from. My favorite was the pork belly, mussel (it was soo good) & sweet potato. The food came in a good portion. The veggies (potatoes/corn) come in 2s and mussels are in 4s. I don't eat a lot, but I was able to finish 2 orders of the pork belly by myself (I haven't eaten all day).
After serving us one of the meat in the grill, the lady cooking wooped out a stainless steel steam pan – which I thought would be normally at a sauce station or in the kitchen. She then pulled out this wet towellet and started cleaning one side of the grill … at the same time cooking the other meat. I was in shocked seeing this water from the towellet spreading on the grill while some meat were being cooked. I have never seen this practice before, but hey it works for them – always keep the bbq grill clean (without changing the actual grill).
The place had recently opened so everything looks new, decor looks pretty fancy and it is big. Bowls on the sauce station could have been cleaner though. I tried taking one and it only took me the third try to find a bowl with no stuck-on food bits on it. Service is rather slow, but the staff are really nice. They tend to forget special request though, such as getting the water or soda.
iCook is a nice addition to the area, I'll be back.
