  1. Yes, it's a chain but I generally love IHop. High sodium, high sugar, high calories. What's not to love? Well, I wasn't feeling the Valley Stream location. I had an okay experience. There was just something so unclean about the this location that made me not want to eat off the plates or drink out of the mugs. But I did and I'm still here.

I had the crepes. Major fail. Hubby had the steak and pancakes which he claimed he enjoyed. My (almost) 2 year old got the chicken kids meal and barely touched it. I did have a taste of hubby's pancakes and it reminded me of why I love the IHop chain. Next time I will stick to what I know and what they make best.

I will return to Ihop just not this location.

  2. Everything was cool, you know, the IHOP experience. Except…..hold on.

Our wait this time was about five minutes (I've waited much longer at this branch).

My omelette was as usual huge and tasty.
So huge that I requested a takeaway box. My server brought the box and proceeded to pack my omelette. A salsa sauce came with it and was just sitting on the table as I'm not much of a salsa fan.
    Server: you want this?
    Me: no thanks
Server: you didn't touch it did you?
Me (strange look on my face): arrmmmm no.
Server then secures salsa in her hand and proceeds to kitchen.
Me: NAH! TELL ME SHE AIN'T TAKING THAT TO BE SERVED TO ANOTHER DINER!
Please IHOP, Say it ain't so. I did some heavy breathing while dinning okaaaay. I'm allll over that salsa.
Three stars because I have no proof of what was done to the salsa. I have an idea, but no proof……and court clothes.

    The End.

  3. Ii see alot of complaints about this ihop and i personally did not have a problem here. the staff was VERY nice when i was there. i guess i went on a tuesday early in the morning so it was not packed there at all. i had a 30 second wait and went right in haha.  everything was very good clean not noisy and i reccomend it.

  4. Remember when IHOP was actually International House of Pancakes?  I do.  I remember as a kid, pouring thick gobs of  boysenberry, strawberry and blueberry syrup all over my pancakes.  The smorgasbord of syrups, always dyed my teeth a shade of blue for at least an hour.  Ah to be a kid again…

After a devastating fire, this particular IHOP was closed for at least a year.  Before the fire, the line trying to get into the lot on a weekend, backed up at least a block onto Sunrise Hwy.  If you actually got a spot, there was always a wait.  With the massive crowds, you would think the food was served on golden plates or something.  So, I kind of just stopped going.

Anyway, the fire gutted the place.  It was a sad sight to drive past for a while, and I was happy when I saw renovations finally being made.

With "grand opening" still painted on the window, we decided we were going to give it a try.  The lot had a handful of spots open (around 6:45PM), which we were pleasantly surprised about.  Looking at the structure, you'd never know this place was torn down and built up again from scratch.  It looked exactly the same.  Working with a clean canvas, wouldn't you want maybe to expand the lot or make the restaurant bigger?

Inside the place was super bright and new.  I never understood the dynamics of the open prep area in IHOP but it always worked.  The place looked miniature inside.  The last time I was in an IHOP I was probably 3ft tall, so this threw me off a bit.

We were seated quickly, but within 5 minutes of being seated out waiter stood by our table waiting for our orders.  We got our drinks and studied the menu for at least ten minutes.  I was a little impressed at the menu.  There were a lot of lower calorie and fat options called "SIMPLE & FIT."

I decided on the Pot Roast Melt minus the swiss and onions.  After ordering, all I thought was, "I hope he wrote that down, because those are two of my biggest offenders" (swiss and onions.)   My mom went the more traditional route with the Breakfast Sampler.  We also ordered a side of onion rings.  Our waiter came to the table twice to question whether I wanted swiss or not.  Oh no….this is going to be bad.

In the interim, we had to ask for drink refills and silverware, which was then delivered by the shirt and tie wearing manager.  When our orders arrived correctly I sighed a breath of relief.  Ordering pot roast at IHOP, I wasn't expecting my  Aunt Addie's AMAZING homemade pot roast.  It was more like Steak-Um meat on a roll with melted American cheese.  Well, it was really fast-foody and good!  The onion rings were battered (my fav.) but pouring with grease and the fries were way undercooked.    My Mom enjoyed her brinner and we were ready for the check.

Overall, it was an OK dining experience.  I will give it another six months before they turn right back into the old, ghetto, dirty, sticky booth-ed IHOP.

  5. I really do enjoy this Ihop. For some reason out of all the Ihops I have been to, this one seems to give me bigger portions of food . More bang for my buck. The waiters are nice sometimes , the food is always great. Its very clean , but very small. I feel like they should expand. For the location they are in , with so many residents, they should have a bigger space. It gets very crowded in this location during lunch time. Oh and on the weekends they have valet parking , so beware . You can choose to park on the street if you want. Since its super close to my house I would have no problems returning.
