I am such a huge fan of gelato, so simply cannot help but to grab a cone after my lunch at Eataly. A variety of flavors can be chosen from and I made my choice right away – pistachio!
Gelato was served either in cone or cup, and can be up to four scoops. Some of the popular flavors include tiramisu, vanilla and latte, which could be gone quickly.
There was always a line, so make sure come early!
I've been meaning to try this place for awhile, but it's always so crowded! Came here on a week day night and it was fairly empty. I got the salted caramel in a cone. The gelato here is great! Perfect texture, great flavor, and just the right amount of sweet! Highly recommend it, and the prices weren't horrible!
I wasn't a huge fan of the cone, it had a flavor in it that just seemed off.
I grabbed an ice cream cone here late at night while walking to the train on Union Square. I really wanted a waffle cone, but they wouldn't put 2 scoops in a waffle cone without charging me for 4 scoops so I had to get a wafer cone. I got the chocolate gelato and the hazelnut gelato in a kind of chocolate hazelnut goopy goodness mashup. I thoroughly enjoyed the texture and sweetness of the gelato and the consistency was perfect. I recommend them as they're not too expensive at about 6 bucks for a two scoop cone. Keep in mind, the rest of Eataly can be absurdly expensive so this price point was acceptable.
Loved this! Most airy, light gelato I've ever had. Shared a small with my friend, and it was a good size for us to both snack on. The texture of the gelato is like .. eating a cloud, almost… or like a cold cloud.. idk how to describe but it was really good *_* Definitely try if you're around, even though it's a tad expensive! Service was alright (wasn't horrible like the other reviews mentioned, but wasn't great either) and they let you try a few flavors like any other ice cream place.
My girlfriends and I went this past Sunday after brunch. It was a very warm day, so the line for gelato was long but it was moving. Two of us had the pistachio and the other had the banana and stracciatella sorbet. Honestly, I've had gelato in Italy and this does not compare. Don't get me wrong, it was still tasty but definitely not for the price they charge. But the banana and stracciatella was surprisingly good and definitely did not taste like a sorbet.
Gelato shop inside of Eataly. Stopped by while waiting for a table at La Pizza & La Pasta.
It was around 9:30PM on a Friday and there was a pretty long line.
When we got to the front, the server was kind enough to let me sample all the flavors I wanted to even though there was a line behind me… heh. They were out of a couple of flavors, so make sure to arrive earlier if you want to have all of the options!
The gelato here is a lot thinner than what I'm used to, and it seemed very "runny," which was weird to me. In the end, I got a medium of the salted caramel and hazelnut to split. Both of them had excellent flavor, but in the end I really couldn't get over the consistency of it.
Maybe gelato is supposed to be like this, or maybe it was the end of the day so everything was melting, but I'm sorry, Il Gelato was just not for me!
Creamiest richest vanilla ice cream I have ever had. It's real vanilla inside!! Not too sweet, consistent texture and richness with a very nice vanilla aroma. Def worth the wait!
Note: try to avoid peak tourists hours because of the long lines.
So this place gets PACKED, as does all of Eataly, but just like the rest of the places here this spot is on point. If you come during off hours, you can get in and out and the staff seems to hook you up opposed to when the line is 25 deep and they're scooping like crazy.
The prices are up there but it's quality gelato… Smooth, silky, thick, and creamy. I've been here multiple times and have never had a flavor that didn't make my eyes roll back in my head and lead me into some weird gelato induced trance.
My only issue is the pricing, it's honestly a little higher than it should be… Don't get me wrong, it's high quality stuff and they can get away with it because of the location but it's still costing them a star.
