a Nice Italian Restaurant with RUDE Loud Waiters.
They sat us right by the Kitchen door and where all the waiters hang out , walks in and out passing by us (plates, silverware, etc). As what my BF says is a mood killer. and on TOP of that, they were talking in Spanish and pretty loud (i understood EVEYRYTHING).
But that didn't stop us, we came to have a nice romantic dinner, so as soon as we sat down Waiters brought For appetizers, there was an aged cheese, salami, fungi and rustic bread and water.
Couple of minutes later after Trying the small finger food, the waiter came to introduce the Specials that was not in the menu, then gave us couple of minutes to decide.
I ordered :
Pollo Alla Sarpariello
Chicken sauteed in garlic, wine and mushrooms. I was dissapointed, the dish looked so bland and simple, chicken did not WOW me and dry, Mushrooms were Yummy but not what its worth it.
Boyfriend had the Snapper with Spicy tomato sauce, His plate was better than mine and tastier, but also not worth for the price.
Also ordered a bottle of wine, a bit overprice but I guess that's what Restaurants do.
Dessert I enjoyed a lot of the Panna Cotta.
I don't think i'll come back again. Rather spend the same amount of money at a Steakhouse.

Il Mulino's has a well deserved reputation for high quality food and service and they absolutely live up to their reputation.
The setting is on the romantic side – dark, candles and white table cloths. Since it was three guys the whole romantic stuff was lost on us but we were there to drink and eat and that was accomplished with gusto.
As soon as you sit, the food comes at you – a variety of appetizers are brought to you before you even look at a menu or hear the specials. We ordered a nice bottle of red and got the evening started.
Beside the initial apps that were brought to the table, we ordered a few more plus some mains – we did a nice mix of off the menu and the specials – so we got to try a lot of what they prepare. Let me say here and now, the place is pricey -very pricey but worth every nickle. You will walk out of there totally satisfied.
We had two different veal dishes and one of the pasta specials for a friend of ours who was in from Wisconsin (poor bastard never knew what good Italian food was until this place!)
We ended the evening with dessert and some coffee and lemoncello – perfect.

Still one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. Upon being seated, expect to try bruschetta, mussels, garlic bread, regular bread, fresh slices of Parmesan cheese, and fried zucchini. You are treated like a member of the Il Mulino family and god forbid you leave the least bit hungry!
Also tried the gnocchi, calamari, Caesar salad, and scarpariello. Each better than the previous dish.
I would probably have given it one more stars if it weren't for the hype. I am a big fan of fine dining and to me this is just another good Italian restaurant, same old. Great service and great bar, but the food is regular, nothing spectacular, so for the price you may be over-paying.
Because I have not been to Il Mulino in a while and because I was in the area I decided to stop by for a Friday lunch. Surprisingly the restaurant was nearly empty. Two men at the bar and two men at a table – that was it. Nervously I entered. Could Il Mulino be just an old memory? Thankfully not. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by the familiar starters. Just wonderful. The bread was even better. Pasta and mains to die for. My only regret is that I couldn't eat any more.
A MUST try for anyone willing to spend a bit of money for some amazing italian food.
Like another user stated, when you're seated you will be greeted with bruschetta, mussels, garlic bread, regular bread, fresh slices of Parmesan cheese, and fried zucchini. All of them are amazing and actually almost fill you up to start. That should not stop you from getting a 3 course meal though.
My father and I have tried the sunset menu special and have ordered off the regular menu. The sunset menu was definitely worth every penny and was a great deal. However, I can't rave enough about the full priced menu. My father took me here to celebrate a job offer and he wanted to give me the full experience.
We split a portion of linguini with seafood, which was AMAZING. This was followed by two absolutely mind blowing veal dishes. The osobuco is seriously the most amazing one I've ever had. It really did melt right in your mouth. The veal chop did the same. They were truly unbelievable. After being so stuffed, I couldn't imagine a dessert, but my father insisted we try the Italian cheesecake, and I ate my half with no hesitation. The food and service were truly exquisite. I can't recommend this place enough.
I came here with very high expectations…and I think that was my problem.
we came by for a friends birthday – and we had a relatively large group, so they sat us downstairs with another larger party. Thats cool, the decor upstairs is pretty tight, so it didn't look like there was enough room for the 13 people we were dining with.
the waitstaff was excellent – mostly. I liked how they set out some amuse-bouche while we waited to hear the specials and receive our menus. They also had to read the specials twice, once at each end of the table because there were so many of us.
anyway, with the prices of the food and the wonderful reputation of the place, I expected to have my socks knocked off with my appetizer and entree…and that just wasn't the case. they were okay…but honestly, I expected a lot more. Truthfully, I've had better baked clams at La Strada in Merrick. I tasted a few people's meals, and again…they were okay – little heavy handed on the truffle oil which is a huge pet peeve of mine. The beauty of a truffle is in the delicacy and the hint of it, drowning pasta in the truffle oil is just inappropriate My beefcake ordered an entree that you'd expect a pasta to come with…and it didn't, which was disappointing. Apparently you had to order it as a half or a side dish, which, at 50$ a plate is ridiculous. They brought my friends husband the wrong meal – one he clearly did not order (he hates mushrooms, there's no way he ordered a meal that had them in it)- and said "well, yes you did…"
as we were waiting for our cafes and desserts, a large, black spider trotted across the table. we trapped it under a glass and motioned to the bus boy to remove…he then smeared it across the table in front of my friend. When she was unpacking her take home, she found the carcass…come on. Maybe they do better with smaller groups? I dont know, but with the plethora of fabulous restaurants to choose from, I dont think I'll be coming back to see if they do better. I feel like its a restaurant youre obligated to say is good because of its reputation…and its just disappointing.
The ultimate dining experience on Long Island! I called Wednesday to make a reservation for a graduation dinner. Open table didn't show any availabilities. I explained it was a graduation dinner & they were happy to reserve a table for me! It was pouring rain & was happy to be greeted by a valet with an umbrella in the parking lot. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Within minutes of being seated we were given complimentary salami, Parmesan cheese, bruschetta with mussel, & marinated zucchini. Everything was spectacular! The wait staff hovers over you the whole time you are seated. Replenishing wine & water, folding napkins, etc. For apps we ordered figs stuffed with goat cheese & squash blossoms stuffed with gorgonzola cheese. The flavor was so distinct & unique in each appetizer! I ordered the lobster ravioli in all a vodka sauce for my entree. The ravioli's were stuffed with lobster! They tasted so fresh & delicious! To top it off I had the napoleon for dessert. What a finale! The flaky layers were so soft & delicate. I haven't left a restaurant so happy in so long! A little pricey but worth it to me for a fine dining experience!
