Food was beyond ordinary. Pizza was alright, nothing special. The fettuccine was edible. I was starving, I ate almost all of it so I can't complain too much. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was about $18 I believe but it was the tiniest pitcher I have ever seen. Imagine a regular size pitcher, now cut that in half. The only fruits inside were tiny pieces of apples. The service was good. The interior looked cheap and maybe not the cleanest place. I definitely would not return, but you get what you pay for!
Our group of 4 decided to eat our way around Manhattan by getting snacks and small portions at various places throughout the day. This was one of our stops.
This place was good enough that we sort of wished we have eaten a full meal here. That wasn't in the cards with our game plan, but what we had was excellent. We tried 4 of the appetizers and shared a carafe of red wine. The food was fresh and well made. The service was a little standoff-ish, but that never bothers us. I'd rather that than someone who hovers over you.
If that's your thing, you'll be waving them over a lot. We enjoyed our time here very much and it was a wonderful and reasonably priced stop on our tour.
The bathrooms required a master's degree in contortionism and the sinks are bizarre. My wife is a very thin person and the better part of a foot shorter than I am. Even she commented on the tightness of the room.
Dear Italian food lovers this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in little Italy!!!
Authentic Italian food, while am writing this my mouth waters 🙂
uuuuuuuuhhhhhh……
Food*****
I recommend the Hawaiian pizza and the asparagus appetizer as well as the coated mushrooms and everything else. Each time my friends and me are eating here, we are having something else…. And never been disappointed. Even the wine is great quality!!
Restaurant*****
The restaurant is run by an Italian family who really know how to seduce with this delicious inexpensive menu.
I highly recommend this cute eatery when you fancy Italian food in little Italy and can't decide where to go. It's greatly satisfying for your soul and wallet.
Bon appetite. 🙂
I sure picked the wrong day to come here. Apparently there was a city inspection going on in the kitchen and instead of letting customers know that this would cause a LONG wait, they continued to accept customers without letting them know. I ordered a very simple pasta dish and waited over 45 minutes for it to be served. I kept asking how long it would take and the waitress would just say a few more minutes. It wasn't until they finally brought the food that they let me know about the inspection. Well gee thanks! No apologies, nothing else offered while I waited.
Terrible customer service and to top it off the food was cold and bland when i received it.
Okay I usually read the reviews before trying out a new restaurant and this is the first time we decided not to go off the reviews – that was my first mistake. As soon as we were seated I already knew service was going to be bad based off the fact that it took them forever to get us water. There was also only one waitress working at least 10 tables. It took forever to get our food which was mediocre in taste. Our appetizer was just okay. It took forever to get our entree. Right when we told them to cancel our entree it came right up but the pasta was not cooked well and the sauce was watery. Furthermore , they had run out of espresso so the hostess went next door to another Italian restaurant and had gotten them to make the espresso. The waitress tried to pull it off like the espresso was theirs when in fact they got it from the restaurant next door. I'm giving this place 2 starts because the waitress tried to make it up to us and didn't charge us for the appetizer. I'm very disappointed and am surprisingly that it got a Zagat award.
Decent place. The pizza was great– thin crust and not unreasonably priced. All the toppings were very good and fresh. My mom always wants to go to Little Italy when we visit, so if we are in the mood for a good pie, this is the place. If it were up to me, I would choose elsewhere. The whole scene is just a little too touristy for my liking and I do not like how if you request to sit outside, you have to dodge entertainment approaching your table.
In short, go here if you are looking for a place in Little Italy to sit outside and take in the very touristy experience that it has to offer. You can even get a foot rub after at a place across the street :p
I came here the other night for dinner with some friends. We split a large pizza which was enough to satisfy the three of us. We wanted to order the "Doc" Margherita which is a margherita pizza made following the Naples international Pizza Guidelines (sounded high quality to us), but somehow they had run out of the buffalo mozzarella cheese. Especially for a restaurant named after that type of cheese, they should have a more abundant supply! We ended up getting a regular Margherita pizza which was good but nothing special. The service was also painfully slow and there weren't even that many people there. I loved that they have al fresco dining, but most of the places in Little Italy have the same.
This is definitely one of the more casual restaurants in Little Italy. Waters and beers are served in plastic cups. At least that's what we received when we sat outside.
Also, their credit card machine seems to be frequently broken. I had tried to come here another night but they had said the machine was out of order and my friends and I weren't carrying cash. The credit card machine was also down the night my friends and I came here, so I would ask before you sit down.
If you love salad, beets and grilled chicken order the beet root salad with goat cheese and nuts. It is delicicious and nutritious. The house dressing is fabulous as well as the house red and white wine. Great salad. Stop by for lunch or dinner . Enjoy.
