Came here for a engagement party.
Very nice banquet hall.
Multiple rooms.
Nice big bathrooms.
Food is really good and good alcoholic drinks and no cheap brands!
There is also a restaurant.
Good customer service and workers.
A tad expensive, but great food – everyone's food was amazing, but no one (including myself) was keen on my shrimp entree.
Any other seafood dish should be solid though.
Great place for a more formal dinner, service was just alright but the food made up for it. Traditional italian, would probably come back.
A pretty good example of how you get what you pay for.
Came here for a Chinese/Black wedding reception and loved the entire atmosphere.
All the staff were extremely accommodating and professional. Food was delicious, especially digging the fresh moz and the roasted pig. Holy cow that was amazing.
Perhaps my only recommendation would be a more lively MC experience.
Bread basket comes with butter and a plate of thinly sliced cold cuts & cheese.
TORTELLINI EN BRODO zuppe ($8, substituted meat tortellini for cheese tortellini).
= salty but nice
POTATO CROQUETTES (complimentary)
= dry but good w/sauce
FLOUNDER FRANCESE w/haricot verts & sweet potato mash ($26)
= yum, definitely enough fish to share with another person + 1 green side
CHICKEN MARSALA ($22)
= yum, definitely enough chicken to share with another person + 1 green side
Side of SAUTEED SPINACH ($8)
= garlicky, just the way I like it
TRUFFLE MASHED POTATOES ($8)
= "not very truffley" said my dining mate
CHAMOMILE TEA was also ordered.
ITALIAN CHEESECAKE ($8)
= very dry, almost like bread
DESSERT COOKIES (complimentary, raisin biscotti + almond(?) cinnamon cookie) = nice to dip into a decaf cappuccino
Would return!
Came here for a work dinner on Monday night with a large group of colleagues. We had a private room. The service was good, our waiter rattled off the specials (there were maybe 20 specials!) as if he really knew the menu.
I ate a ton of the garlic breadsticks. The flavor was great but they were a bit hard (I was starving!). I had a few bites of cheese and pepperoni. The wine was good (but the wine glasses were dirty! And I think maybe I had cork in my wine glass because I kept picking out little floaties).
I started with the arugula salad (very good), had the short rib with risotto (delicious! especially the risotto), and topped it off with an order of tartufo (very good but a bit melted by the time it got to me — I like it pretty frozen). No one touched the complimentary cookies because we all ate so much. I understand that we had a large party but service was a bit slow (for a Monday night as the restaurant was fairly empty).
Overall, it was a good meal (but the wine floaties really bugged me). Would most likely only come back if for a work event.
My family and I have been coming to il Villagio for as long as I could remember into my child hood . We use to come on a monthly basis, back before they were also a wedding venue , and when there were no windows in the place. Some how my life has passed and I have never written a review. So here you go.
Scene: il Villagio is a classy , upscale Italian restaurant with a long history. It's actually a shame that there aren't more places around here like this : valet service , grand entrance with tons of marble and granite , a dining room with crushed velvet banquets and grand modern chandeliers .
Service : again, there should be more places like this. Their staff , most whom have been there forever , is great and dressed with black tuxedos. Where was the last place you went where you were served by waiters in tuxes ???? I would love to make a shout out to Sebastian and Donato whom have been serving us for years . We've grown up in their presence and they make sure that's known. We are all greeted with hugs and/or kisses even when the aren't our waiters that night .
Food: fantastic of course . Instead of going on and on, ill get down to business and mention my favs. Apps: hands down the best oysters rockafella around ( I'll dare you to find better ); Caesar salad with its home made dressing ( the kind they make right at your table )- but be careful , don't plan on kissing anyone after bc all you'll taste is garlic haha 🙂 … Entree : Cannelloni stuffed with things like cheese , veal, and filet mignon blended into a smooth paste and topped with a cream sauce. Or try their Chilean seabass over escarole : tender , buttery goodness . Or get a classic like linguini and clam sauce and you won't be disappointed .
Extra : I've never been to a wedding here but we have had multiple parties including my dads 60th, our engagement party and my brothers graduation from medical school , as well as many holidays and they have been consistent every time !
I'm quite disappointed in myself for not writing a review for this restaurant sooner. I've been dining at Il Villaggio for over 10 years now (as a treat or for a special occasion). Years ago it was a small restaurant (impressive ambiance and decor nonetheless). It was renovated some years back and is now a huge banquet hall/restaurant. The food and the service are consistently impeccable. Be prepared to spend a few bucks but keep in mind that you're getting top quality food and service. The food is absolutely delicious. You can just tell that all of the ingredients are fresh. One of my personal favorites is the cannelloni. This is a wonderful place to bring somebody special or if you want to have an elegant, delicious, enjoyable dinner.
I actually know the owner Ralph. This is okay Italian food. Personally, I think it's over priced for average food. You can do much better in NJ or on Arthur Ave in the Bronx.
