  1. Teeny tiny little unassuming wine bar with seating for less than 10 inside, but don't fear — warm weather is here, allowing for 8-10 more outside on the sidewalk. Be careful, take 2 small steps and you've passed it without even noticing.

I've been here twice, and even though it's small, I have had no problem getting a seat with one or two others. Wines a pricey, but really yummy! Also awesome, was the food, which is amazing considering it's pretty much all cooked in an area no bigger than a bathroom! Ha

The menu for food isn't terribly large, but it's what goes with wine. Cheese, pizza and 3 pasta dishes. The pizza was great. I shared the prosciutto pizza and the tomato ravioli with my boyfriend, along with some vino. Although the service, which should've been amazing, was not, I'd still come back. The place is so small and the staff is always right there, I'm not sure why getting a glass of water took over 5 minutes. Whatever. Not a deal breaker.

It was also a plus that when we asked for the check at the end of our time, we got our wine glasses filled up just about half a glass for a "night-cap". It was a nice gesture on a quiet Monday evening.

I'd like to come back and sit outside for happy hour, which they do have, that ends at 7!

  2. The bartenders here are awesome & very attentive. The wine list was great, and we ordered the ravioli with burrata and a mushroom pizza, which were both very solid, although nothing too special.

The entire joint is SUPER small–it seats probably ~10 people and another 5 people at the bar. There are only a couple of 2-seater tables off to the side of the dining area, and a communal table in the middle (which is very, uh, COZY, even by communal table standards). If sharing a table with strangers isn't your jam, expect to look elsewhere or eat at the bar.

We unfortunately just missed the happy hour, but it looks amazing. $28 wine bottles/deals on every wine by the glass. Will definitely be back next time I'm on the UES!

  3. BEST SANGRIA IN TOWN.

Came on a Saturday night, no reservation, walked right in.

The sangria is a MUST, we got the blood orange pitcher for two and it was amazing.

We both ordered flat breads and they were super tasty, fresh, and a good size to combat the amount of sangria I slugged down. Would definitely recommend for a swanky Saturday dinner before going out in the UES.

  4. A little quaint intimate gem of a wine bar. One I hesitate to share because it's so sweet and cozy and I didn't want to give it away 🙂 But giving it away!

Very small with only a cork community table and handful of other seats inside and a small outside seating area.

But the wine selection, cozy feel makes it perfect for a date or meeting for conversation with a friend or two .

The service is always outstanding and this new gal pictured was amazing even had my back for being very late – saying beauty takes time for women ha She was very sweet and personable aw have all the servers and managers been every time I've gone.

Highly recommend as a date spot

  5. I'm finishing up a good meal a Il Vino.
We ordered the $49 dinner special for two: bottle of wine, salad, and two entrees.  The rating breakdown is as follows:
    1) service = 5 stars = wonderful waitress who was very prompt and courteous.
    2) ambience = 5 stars = nice outdoor seating with cool music.
    3) salad = 4 stars. Order the arugula with pear and goat cheese. Very tasty.
    4) entrees = 3 stars. Good pasta but with too much oil.
    5) free creme brûlée = 5 stars.  So good!!!!!!

  6. My friend and I got one of the red wines off of the $28 wine list and it was very good for $28! I'd definitely get it again. The setting inside is nice and intimate, while outside allows you to enjoy the busy streets of the Upper East Side on a good weather day.

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars has to do with the offer on the Yelp app that says customers get a free creme brulee with check-in. I showed our server my check-in and at first he said that it wasn't applicable if we didn't buy food. I said that that wasn't clarified in the check-in, because the check-in didn't specify that any special purchase had to be made for the free dessert. Later on, he changed his words to say that we couldn't buy any of the $28 wines and had to buy a more expensive wine for the free dessert. We ended up getting the free dessert after a lot of frustration and dealing with management, but it just wasn't a satisfying experience.

  7. Il Vino, which means "the vino" in English I think, is a really delightful spot. However, it is good only for what it is good for.

It is small and if used correctly then it will be great.

Correct use of The Vino….45 minutes early to Dinner res…well then, have a glass of wine and possibly some cheese.  Done with dinner and want the party to linger on, pop into Il Vino.

It is tiny and seating is odd. It is not a place I would enjoy going to alone.

  8. We love this place. I have been here with friends and with dates, I've sat by myself with a good book and a nice glass of wine. It has a nice wine selection and lots of by the glass choices, they have good specials which vary daily. Always great to go with wine is a good cheese selection and a nice menu with salads n pizza. Really a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. Personally my favorite UES wine bar, much better than San Mateo or 1742 next door.
