I'll be honest – I wasn't expecting to eat anything spectacular when I walked in here, because, being vegan, I cannot eat what the popular dishes. We came in at around 3 or 3:30pm, so we were the only ones there. The waitress put on some music when we came in, and gave us some small dish that reminded me of corn nuts (that's probably exactly what it was, but homemade version). It was very delicious and had a nice crunch.
I ordered platanos with rice and beans. Platanos were excellent – crispy and crunchy with the right amount of chewiness right in the middle. The rice and beans were not the typical white rice with black beans deal – they used a white type of bean and cooked it in with the rice (it was not typical white rice, either!). There was a nice garlic flavor in it, and it was sooo good! I could've eaten another serving of it. I asked for hot sauce and that hot sauce was both extremely spicy and delicious, which are two terms you don't generally hear together when it comes to hot sauce. It was made with rocoto pepper and made in house!
My boyfriend got the seafood fried rice, which looked like something from a Chinese restaurant, but with lots of seafood and the rice was darker? There were even chopsticks stuck into the top (LOL?!), and he said that he didn't have that the last time he went, so I'm not too sure why they did that.
Food was absolutely delicious, and I will gladly eat here again.
Normally I try a place a few times before I would give it the 5th star, but everything about Incas was a hit from the moment we walked in.
I'm normally not in Staten Island, but was meeting friends coming in to Grasmere Station who suggested we have lunch there. I'm glad they did!
We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and given several choices on where to sit. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.
Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond.
I had the Cebiche Mixto: a mixture of different types of seafood, which came with a spicy sauce on the side. Our server warned me several times that the sauce was hot, which was kind of funny, as I thrive on hot. The food was fantastic. Each one of us thought the meal and service was outstanding.
During the meal, the owner/chef came over to our table and introduced himself, asked if there was anything we needed, and chatted with us a bit.
After we finished our meal, the owner/chef brought over a complimentary desert to our table, which was also terrific.
Before we left, he also gave us a "Foodie guide to Peruvian Food map of NYC".
The parking lot is small, but there is a side street right next to it which has ample parking.
The next time I'm in Staten Island, I will be sure to come back and try more items on the menu.
The place is small and not recommend for a large group. But what impressed me the most was the customer service. The chef/owner was very friendly and make sure the customers were enjoying their dining. The food was great. Just the tacu-tacu (rice and beans) needed more flavor. But all around a great dining experience.
Finally, SI is getting different types of cuisines on the island. You definitely don't want to miss out on this restaurant.
Their ribeye with shrimp is just deliciously tasty and tender. And who would think someone finally got great flavor chicken in SI without having to go to Jersey or the city.
This is a cute little restaurant that's got lots of flair and flavor. It's a little pricier than any Peruvian restaurant I've been to, but worth it without having to cross the bridge.
Convenience + complete deliciousness = worth coming back for more & drink their sangria.
