  1. I stumbled on this place thanks to my fellow yelpers . What caught my eye was the chili paneer on the menu . Me and chili  paneer have a long relationship . The best chili paneer I've had is still in London England . Needless to say I was craving some here and thought why not this place seemed to have decent reviews . I've gotten take out twice now from this place . The chili paneer did not disappoint both times . It's the right spice level and paneer is just delightful. These little cubes of cheese with the spicy sauce eaten with rice equals yumminess. They give you a decent portion that two people can share . The garlic naan is perfectly made and not too greasy . The tandoori chicken is a little bland for my taste but the chicken tikka is my husband 's favorite . I think I'll stick to this place as my go to for Indian take out around here .
The mango lassi was ok but it tasted like it was pre made . There is seating available for eating in .

  2. Yesterday I had my birthday dinner here with my family. There were four adults and two kids in the party. The owner took really good care of us. The service was excellent. The food was absolutely amazing, and I would not even stop at that. It was the best Indian food I've had in the US. I would definitely recommend this to everybody who's looking for authentic Punjabi food, especially if you're in the New York area.

  3. Unassuming joint from the outside, but do not let appearances fool you. This place is positively delicious. I texted a friend that I am eating Happiness because the food is so delicious and choc full of flavor, it felt like reaching zen.

I ordered the vegetable pakora appetizer and have more than enough left over to take home for later as their portions are so generous! I also ordered the Chicken Korma with plain naan. The flavors were rich, deep and sumptuous. The blend of spices and cream were divine. I have to say this is quite possibly one of the best Indian food restaurants I have tried, based on this small meal sample 🙂

The people there are also very friendly! It seems like they take they're time, but if you mention that you're in a hurry they are very accommodating.

I highly recommend India Cafe if you find yourself in the area.

  4. I'm starting my review in the middle of the meal. First of all, this establishment is very local and very modest. A few tables and booths are all there is.  Not fancy in the least.  I tried the vegetable samosa..  There were two large samosas with excellent flavor.  Not greasy at all!  The accompanying sauces- tamarind in particular- were spicy and robust.  A salad with very little dressing was simple yet loaded with cumin and other chaat spices. For my entree I had chicken masala.  This was one of the best indian dishes I've ever had.  It was topped with julienned ginger and was spicy and packed with aromas that enticed.  A definite winner.  Dessert is to go as I'm stuffed.  I will definitely revisit the India Cafe.
