Food was average-good–some other plates smelled great. Maybe ask for recommendations. Service was great and very attentive and formal–given the venue. Got a free appetizer and dessert because we ordered so much!
I've been there before and enjoyed myself. I enjoyed the chicken saagwala and mango lassi. That's the reason we returned the second time. But the second time we had some unexpected guests … A roach came out to join us during dinner. This is why I have to give it one star. & I will not be coming back again.
I'm so torn when writing reviews like this. We got delivery and about half of the items that showed up were tasty, standard indian take out, and the other half were just gross.
We got samosas and gobi manchurian as appetizers. The filling for the samosas was dry, and the pastry was a bit dense and not at all flaky. The gobi manchurian was pretty much inedible, the breading on the cauliflower was dense and super chewy. For entrees, the vegetable jalfrazi was very good, actually, nice sauce and a good variety of fresh (not frozen) vegetables. The malai kofta was weird, almost no tomato flavor in the sauce and really heavy on the coriander — the vegetable dumplings were pretty blech. The nan and rice were fine.
I don't know, I might try this place again and avoid ordering anything fried.
I am leaving another review for them because I ordered twice from them from Eat24. I only ordered the second time because I couldn't find another Halal restaurant that delivered to my area and I was desperate for food. The first time I ordered one of the dishes I ordered was chicken tikka. This chicken tikka didn't taste or look like chicken tikka. It was peices of chicken breast that were lightly spiced. Which is not what chicken tikka is. It was pretty tasteless for chicken tikka. Also the food came cold. And both times I ordered they didn't include plastic silverware, plates or anything.
The second time one of the dishes I got was chicken curry. It was a sad excuse for curry. There were chunks of onion and tomatoes in it. They didn't make the curry into a curry it seemed. It was also pretty tasteless. Both times I asked for the food spicy. It was far from spicy. The curry the second time tasted like they just threw a bunch of random spices inside it. It was pretty awful.
I also had the Rasmalai for dessert. It was the weirdest tasting Rasmalai I have ever had. It wasn't very appetizing.
On top of that, I paid with a credit card. I had no cash on me. I apologized to the delivery driver for not having cash to tip him. I always tip drivers. He reamed me out at my door.
Great neighborhood Indian restaurant in Brooklyn. We were staying around the corner at the Brooklyn Hotel and were looking for a late dinner. We happened to see the restaurant as we were driving by. What a great find! The service was great and they have an "A" inspection rating. We each tried something different. Shrimp Curry, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Madras. All were delicious!
Gave this restaurant another try today becos i thought their food was good from last time. They didnt give me utensils last time but i figured i'll jus remind them this time. So i got back to the office to eat and noticed the chicken was raw!!! Some parts were cooked which was only the edges and majority of my whole chicken order was raw. I was so disappointed and there was no way i was goin back out in that cold to show them it. I am never going back again.
