    The food at Indian Tanpura is atrocious.  I was really hoping that it would be good because I'm still searching for a good Indian restaurant on the UWS.  This is certainly not it.  I ordered $40 worth of food on Seamless.  I essentially threw $40 into the garbage.  

    The Chicken Tikka Masala – a staple of any Indian restaurant – was abysmal.  I suffered through a quarter of the container and threw out the rest.   The Seekh Kabab was unlike any other Seekh Kabab I've had before.  It was just bad.   Naan is supposed to be a light and airy bread.  Indian Tanpura's garlic naan was heavy and barely serviceable.  I love Mulligatawny soup, but was immediately disappointed the moment I took my first spoonful.  It was bland at best.  The chutneys that came with the food had the consistency of water, which is not the way they are supposed to be.  Terrible.

    Needless to say, I will never order from this horrendous restaurant again.  I'm absolutely shocked that anyone else would rate this higher than one star.  If you're thinking of eating at Indian Tanpura, just don't.

    Little gem close to our home. They close at 10:30, so when I great for Indian dinner during late hours. Menu is pretty basic with preparations very good for the price. The service is exceptional!! They serve alcohol as well. We ordered the chicken kodai and rotis. Chicken was delicious. Rotis are some of the best ones I have had. I asked for some raw onion to go with my chicken, the owner was kind enough to bring in some raw green chillis and sprinkle some tangy spice on it as well. Overall an exceptional experience. Will come again.
