Came here for a birthday dinner Saturday 12/12/15. We were a large party of 20. The birthday girl made reservations about 4 weeks prior to the occasion and met with the owner, Alex twice to go over the service and menu. Unfortunately that's not what was presented.
Atmosphere: inside is really pretty and had a nice elegant Christmas decor. The outside is dark and difficult to locate the restaurant. I would suggest putting better lights outside and better way to show the name.
Food: small small plates. So this is a tapas restaurant. I expected small plates; however, they were extremely small. My shrimp appetizer came with 3 tiny shrimp on 3 small pieces of bread. It wasn't bad; however, some people bread was burn. Entree I had the Salmon. I liked it for what it was, but I have had way better salmon. It was a little too bland. Desert wasn't bad just wasn't good.
Drinks: hmmm not strong enough for the price.
Service: waiter was very friendly and tried to be accommodating. However, there was like an hour wait in between each meal. Owner argued with one of the guest in our party, which didn't look good for him. She and others were trying to explain how the service wasn't good and his the food wasn't that good either. After arguing back and forth he eventually gave us free shots. I also don't think Alex really cared for our party because I saw him checking in on other guest throughout the night and he seemed to avoid our table as much as possible.
The wine selection is great. The food is decent but not great. The desserts aren't worth the calories. I came here with some girl friends to celebrate my birthday and we had a great time and felt really comfortable laughing and hanging out for a few hours.
I came here last night for a birthday dinner with a very large party. I know a party of 20 is not a walk in the park and I will say our waiter HUSTLED, but to put it simply AVOID THIS PLACE if you're a large group.
Quick Review: Small, but cute restaurant. Food is pretty good. My first time at a tapas place, so I felt like every plate was lacking. Really long wait with a large party & terrible customer service from management.
Full Review: They have a pre fixe menu that they failed to explain accurately to patrons who have never been here before. Apparently we should have known that their entrees are literally teeny tiny little plates with a bite of food just large enough to taste, and they charged us for drinks because we weren't aware one was included.
To be fair, there were a few pros. It's a cute little restaurant, when I first came in I really liked the decorations and ambiance. I noticed the manager (Owner? Whatever. His name is Alex.) walking around greeting customers which is a good sign. Our waiter was super friendly and was working extremely hard to accommodate us. The food, though the size of a meal served in Barbie's dream house, for the most part tasted good.
The PROBLEM came when we ended up waiting several hours for the food and we brought it up to Alex. His initial response was "Okay……" Not apologetic in the least bit, and then the food comes out and we all realize we had been waiting for two Kid's meal chicken tender strips (See photo below). It's ridiculous to assume we were paying $50 for a salad, a bite size appetizer and bite size entree after waiting over TWO hours for it to come out. In my opinion, the worst part was management. You should never sit there and argue with a patron. Part of customer service is being able to swallow your pride and tell them they're right (even if they're not) and to offer something to diffuse the situation and make them happy. Instead, after mentioning our issues again, Alex argued very loudly with a guest in my party over everything from beans to salmon to what time we walked through the door in the middle of the restaurant. Unprofessional.
After the birthday girl crying and a few other guests from my group arguing with Alex in private, he did comp us a free shot which is really all he needed to do the FIRST time around to get one more star on this review. Also I later overheard that this deal includes one free drink per person, AFTER we already paid $12 for each drink — thankfully they were nice enough to refund us, but if I hadn't been eavesdropping I wouldn't have noticed.
PS We had apple turnovers and chocolate cake for dessert. My advice? SKIP dessert.
