Oh if only i lived in Astoria this would definitely be my go to butcher shop. Great group of guys who recommend great cuts pertaining to what you'll be cooking. Super helpful and the shop has a great wide selection of proteins.
Came in for the ox tail which was sublime and it was cut up to perfection. Saw some great cuts of bone in pork chops and lovely bone in ribeye and so had to get a couple of those as well. All were super tender and flavorful.
If ever in the area i'd definitely be back.
Excellent cuts of meat, we have had some great double cut pork chops, the prices are good and they take cards, whats not to like.
Living in Astoria my entire life I never wanted to nor thought about purchasing meat from a butchers shop. It was my turn to host Taco Tuesday for us & three of our friends and having fell out out love with turkey tacos over the past few months I decided on ground chicken. The only ground chicken I have purchased prior or International Meat Market has been the vacuum sealed Perdue packs, at a heft $5.99 per 10 oz at the grocery store. I thought I should call around and see what prices different meat shops had
I was planning 3 LBS & according to grocery store pricing, that would have cost me 28.75. IMM told me 3.99 per pound of ground chicken. I almost jumped out of my car. As I walked in, the butchers hand picked chicken breast and ground it right before my eyes (I thought I would find a tray in a case with ground chicken & a price tag). Not only were they amazingly priced but they are FRESH. Anytime I bought Perdue chicken it had a "vinegar solution added" sticker or some weird tang to the chicken. IMM doesn't have to worry about that, fresh ground chicken breast before your eyes! Now it can be a little intimidating to walk into a place and see the hustle and bustle of guys butchering meat away, high counters that us 5'1 patrons have to tippy toe in order to catch eye contact with employees- but they are nice, sincere gentelmen. The man grounding my meat overheard my convo with my cousin – we were second guessing if three pounds would be enough & as he finished the inital chosen chicken asksed us if we decided in more or if that would suffice. Overall I had a great experience and will now be checking in with IMM to see prices and fresh cuts, accounting them in to my weekly meal planning process.
Authentic NY butcher shop. All kinds of meats and cuts and at very good prices.
I had the chicken and beef kebabs. They were already marinated and good quality.
Looking forward to coming back and getting a few other meats/cuts. Perhaps I should get the entire pig or goat they got hanging on the street facing display, do it real BIG.
Great selections of meats along with many specialty items you can check out while you wait. The butchers are very friendly and helpful.
The prices are of course more than you would pay at a supermarket, but the quality is a lot fresher and better, overall!
They accept credit cards, not sure if there is a minimum. But will definitely be coming here for my proteins from now on!
Wonderful meat market in the neighborhood. Lots of variety and always fresh.
Helpful staff. they also have specialty items that you won't find anywhere else. The pricing is great too.
If you want real Kobe and aren't prepared to visit the far east then International Meat Market (IMM) is your kinda of place and it most certainly is my kinda place too. Perhaps you're feeling for something less exotic but equally decadent? May I again suggest IMM to fulfill your carnivorous cravings? Whether its dry aged, well marbled USDA prime or just the ordinary fare, IMM once again comes through. My only gripe is that on occasion you may be loitering for longer than you may want waiting to be served. And don't forget to take a ticket upon arrival because otherwise folks that arrive after you will be served before you.
Ok so just to set the premise: I only shop here to buy liver for my cat to eat. But here is my experience
Service is very friendly and well organized (they go by the ticket number when it's very busy).
They will butcher your meat for you ( I.e. If you want something cut into small pieces, or you buy a whole chicken and want it cut up)
They have a nice selection of imported olive oils, sauces, crackers, chocolate, dried pasta, etc.
Only negative: they handle meat with the same gloves they will take your credit card/cash in.. Kind of unsanitary.
And FYI- cc minimum is $15
