Delicious spot for some fun sushi! Some inventive rolls that are actually fresh!
Came on a Monday night – it was empty… seemed to do a lot of delivery orders though. No problem really… means we were sat right away.
I always passed by Iron sushi and wondered about the reason for choosing this name. So curiosity got over me and my wife and we decided to try this place. We went for brunch and ordered 3 roll plates: spicy tuna with jalapeno, volcano special and one more that my memory fails me. It was very good and we truly enjoyed it. Service was not great and we had to keep looking for our waiter despite being one of the only two customers at that time. The waiter was not attentive so not pleased with service and hence 4 star review. Food was great though!
Hadn't had sushi in a while, and if you know me, that means some serious cravings….so when my boyfriend and I had an excuse to go out to eat, I requested sushi! We passed by on our wandering around our neighborhood, and he really wanted to go in (he never has an opinion on where to eat, so this was an easy decision for me!). I liked how open the restaurant was. We sat at the bar and were offered complimentary spring rolls which were fine (the sauce is not as fine, but they were free so whatever!) We then ordered 4 rolls (dynamite, yellowtail, philadelphia, and sweet potato) and 2 salmon sushis. Everything came out quickly, and I loved how friendly the elderly Japanese men at the sushi bar were! The sushi was fine–not the best I've had, although we didn't try a special roll or anything and I don't particularly like rolls without substantial amounts of fish–but the price was unbeatable. A quick and easy spot to stop by for dinner, finished off with a large carafe of decent sake and equally decent green tea mochi ice cream.
I dined it at this restaurant a few times and also done carry out. I must say the food is good and the sushi is fresh. Everytime when I go for dinner there with my husband and we always order the sushi and sashimi combo and each other time we are never disappointed and we always enjoy our meal leaving the restaurant full. We always order at least one appetizer which can be anything on the menu we try before or haven't. This is a place to go to for sushi if u are in the upper east side.
Cute little sushi place with attentive staff and quick service-mind you I was one of two other tables. Good selection of sushi. A bit disappointed they ran out of toro. Pretty standard sushi.
Fabulous sushi – some interesting, creative rolls and appetizer options – and a cozy atmosphere/ cute little dining area. This is one of my favorite restaurants for sushi delivery.
Service is attentive, and delivery service is always good and with no complaints on time.
My favorite of their creative appetizers:
– One of my favorite appetizers ever is the spider cocktail and I do not think is on the menu. It is crab wrapped in a cucumber with peanut butter dipping sauce. So amazing.
– elephant eye- grilled eel stuffed with eel, salmon, shrimp… So good .
– They also have a great Kani salad.
Their special rolls are wonderful! My favorites:
– Iron roll
– dragon roll
– rainbow roll
– signature roll
Their sushi- tuna, salmon and yellowtail all fresh.
I highly recommend as a sushi place for delivery and even to have a casual but nice cozy place for sushi.
I have not been disappointed by Iron Sushi.
Sushi is kind of one of my guilty pleasures. Call me paranoid but I can't get over the fact that sushi probably has microscopic parasites in it. So I tend to eat sushi sparingly and I tend to be extremely picky when it comes to which sushi places I'll trust.
With that being said, the Spicy Scallop roll is legit. I'll be back (when my sushi craving overcomes my fear of parasites).
Iron sushi delivers when it comes to fresh and delectable sushi rolls.
We came in here for a late lunch but made it early enough to get the lunch special which ends at 4:00. The place was empty but overall I thought the waitress/host came to check on us enough.
As far as the sushi rolls: I had the alaskan, avocado/peanut, and eel at 6 pieces each, pretty small bites but packed with flavor. My sushi craving was satisfied and didn't od on carbs, thankfully my dining partner is watching his too. I won't hesitate to come back if I'm in this part of town. Thanks for the great food Iron Sushi, I want s'more. 🙂
