Isaac's is so stereotypical old school Jewish bakery, complete with the jovial Jewish guy who speaks Yiddish, behind the counter, urging you to try just a bit more. A bubbie replacement, if you will.
Whether looking for kosher treats or just plain non-dairy (for those that are lactose intolerant), Isaac's makes a ton of sweets that are both tasty and dairy-free. Black and whites, cupcakes, cookies. They have it. The only thing that's dairy there is the cheesecake (it would be blasphemous if a cheesecake was dairy-free).
It's right off the subway, so easily accessable, actually right across the street from DiFarra's if you bring your kosher non-dairy eating friend with you.
depending on what you come for your experience will vary. i specifically come here for two things. cheese danishes, yum!!!! and cookies.not just any cookies… the cookies with half sprinkles half dipped in chocolate and sandwiched together by a little red jelly jam. while the jam is not always generous it's enough to get you through the cookie. $9 a lb so just grab a mix bag of cookies and throw them together.
