Island Burgers & Shakes
“The peppers and onions had a wonderful slightly seasoned flavor, the french fries were heavenly and the onion rings crisp and delicious.”
“A little pricier than Shake Shack but those burgers are puny and plain compared to what you can get here instead.”
“You might think it's an expensive salad at around $15 (well, then again that's average in UWS) but that salad was stacked with goodies.”

Great Burger but sooooo expensive. Around $16 per Burger and it comes… be prepared… with NOTHING! So add french fries and a soda and you'll get out of there broke. It you want to take with girlfriend or boyfriend you better save the money and rather spend it in Per Se!
The burgers are amazing but not worth it. B&B in soho has the best burgers for ~$16 and it comes with the most amazing sweet potato fries.
One of the best burgers I've had in Manhattan, and the fries were even better. Fun little spot in a convenient location with fast service. My only complaint is the price. I will definitely go back, but it is unfortunately too expensive to go there regularly.
As far as burgers go, Island burgers gets a stamp of approval. You're not going to get anything spectacular but they are happy to personalize your burger for you, have an ample choice of toppings, and give a plentiful amount of fries.
Warning that Island can sometimes feel understaffed so you may wind up waiting a while for your check as you awkwardly make eye contact with your dining neighbors who are still waiting to order.
When my friends said they were getting dinner at a burger spot, I wasn't really expecting it to be a nice dinner so I was pretty surprised when I walked into Island Burger. The restaurant is very tiny and narrow, but the decor is really cute and modern. They definitely utilize the space well. The menu has a large selection of various types of burgers and you can also order the grilled chicken prepared similarly to the type of burger. I decided to be boring and order a cheeburger, medium. It came out PERFECT and super juicy. I had been craving a burger for months, so this was a nice reward. I also ordered the grilled aspargus that is on the appetizer menu instead of fries (my friends mocked me for this) and they were fantastic. I did also steal a few fries and they were really crispy. And let's not forget the best part about this spot, they actually have a solid wine list to choose from and a Malbec for $5 during happy hour. Our server was really friendly and cool enough to inform us that Happy Hour was ending soon so if we wanted to get another drink we should order it soon. Overall I really liked this place and would recommend this burger spot for sure!
The burgers here are pretty good. They have a wide variety of choices and flavors and you can choose your burger type (chicken, beef or turkey) and your bun type. I like the flexibility that you have here, and of course the pre selected burger types that you can pick from too. They have a little bar area in the front, and seating is tight in the back but the service is very quick so they turn tables efficiently.
I had the people's choice burger, and my only gripe is that the bottom of my bun was wayyy too soggy. It was falling apart and was hard for me to eat with my hands so I ended up cutting it into pieces and eating it with a knife (boring). My boyfriend ordered the Route 66 and he loved it. He had the dark rye as a bread and it didn't get as soggy as my sesame bun. We split an order of onion rings that were really really good too.
The burgers here are a little pricey, they run up to $16 and that's without an order of fries if you're feeling adventurous. Anyway, this is the perfect place to stop by if you are looking for a burger that won't disappoint, but also won't be the best burger you've ever had in your entire life.
I much prefer Island Burgers & Shakes over Shake Shack. There's a homeyness that you get here and the vibe is so casual that I feel so relaxed.
We opted to order two burgers and they're HUGE!!! I couldn't even fit it into my mouth but both were super tender, juicy (we love medium rare). The bun could barely hold the monstrosity together. It wasn't buttery juicy like Shake Shack (which I don't like).
Their fries were ok – I really wish they allowed 1/2'rs where you could have half regular half sweet potato fries.
Its ok.
— Food —
Mediocre. The chicken parm was ok. To be honest, the chicken tasted fresh, slightly overcooked, and was whole instead of parts, which is nice.
— Service —
The staff are incredibly happy and polite. The food did take a little while, but that was fine.
— Milkshakes —
The vanilla shake was amazing. Incredible.
— Overall —
Is ok. Not sure I'd eat at again. Slightly expensive for what it was.
Great option for the UWS, for a casual place to chill.
Recommend getting a reservation since the place is teeeeeny, but they do have quite a few seats at the bar.
The service was great! Super fast and really nice. We ordered a variety, Tijuana burger, South of the Border burger, and the Big Ass Fijitas.
The Fajitas were infact, a big ass portion. I tried the chicken, and it was cooked perfectly, lots of things to dress it up with, and DEFINITELY something you should share.
My south of the border burger was fantastic, the best part being the burger itself. Honestly, all the stuff around it just took away from it, I think you're best off building your own burger and putting it what you want, because its the burger that is probably one of the best in town.
All together, we ordered a bottle of wine + burgers and left paying about $30/each, which, let's be real, is a little ridiculous for a burger, but I get it.
