After calling multiple restaurants to find out about their price range for their Mother's Day brunch, I chose island taste due to their tasty food selection (this was my second time having brunch here). Although it was reasonably priced $20 for adults $9.99 for kids the service was horrible!!!! Upon arriving my family and I were given complimentary drinks and was presented with a rose for all the mothers which was a nice gesture. However, it was extremely disorganized our waiter appeared 15 min after being seated explaining that the waitress assigned to us was overwhelmed so he would be taking care of us. We had to ask for menus which was unacceptable, that should be the first thing we receive. We were seated at 1pm and left at 3:30!!!! We only had 1 round of their all you can eat buffet. We all ordered seconds but it took way too long, almost 30 minutes. We kindly called over our waiter and asked him to give us the check as we were extremely disappointed with the service!!! Island taste you must do better otherwise you will lose customers! I ordered brown stew chicken with provisions which was tasty, however when my chicken finally arrived 45 min later it was lukewarm which is not acceptable!!
We came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch before we took Lil man to Toys 4 US as he likes to call it….lol.
We walked in and looked around trying to figure out how long before someone would come to the door and seat us. Not like the place was busy. Maybe 4 tables. We were seated and given menus. These menus seemed like this was all they offered on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The 2 for 20 menu.
We decided to go with the mango wings and grilled shrimp for apps. The apps were pretty tasty. For our entrees he ordered the Rasta Pasta with Oxtails. I had the Rasta Pasta with Chicken and for my son is ordered the Chicken and Waffles.
All our food came out in a timely manner. I had The Bulldog, he had the Rum Punch and a cranberry for the my son. My drink was delicious.
Now back to the food. The rasta pasta I think instantaneously made a dread grow in the back of my head. It was so filling and the flavors were married well. My son's food was also delightful. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. He was very excited.
This is the best island food in life. It is Wednesday so there is a seafood after work special. I had the crab legs, lobster & jerk wings. For the GAWDS!!
It is so flavorful now I understand why there was no salt & pepper on the table. It is like they cooked the crab legs in straight butter, garlic & hot pepper. My mouth was on fire & I loved it.
I had a blue long island ice tea……..WAY TOO STRONG. I had about 1/4 of it & was feeling buzzed. Next time I will order apple juice.
The only con is it took WAY too long to get our food, but the waitress was very nice & kept checking on us.
This is not the spot you take someone on the 1st date because the food is so good, you will straight up look like a beast eating it up.
Will definitely have to come back again.
The price was really reasonable. The specials was $20 & $30 dollars plus our drinks. The total bill was $78.
