Ok so pizza is the "it food" right now or has it always been, and I'm just now taking notice? Scary for my pants, that it's right around the corner! We would stop by at 3am for a quick post-drunk feast but now, finding myself wanting to come here all hours of the day. For you UESders, IV is like Salvo's sauce without the grease of Gotham– though depending on my palette, any of the other two might do on a fickle day. If Gotham is the $.99 cent version, then IV falls in between and Salvo's reigns on the more high-end slice. But IV holds its own. They only offer slices and 16" or 18" pies , the 16" which yields 6 NY-style, large slices for $13. Hot, freshly made-to-order, orgasmic pizza. This is they type of pizza that inspires one to wear pizza attire! I'll be getting mine from Amazon shortly.
I must have walked past this place 100 times and never noticed it. A friend of mine told me they have really good food and I should check it out. Today I did.
The hubby was out and about and asked me to order in lunch. I asked my kids what they wanted and of course they said PIZZA!! I wasn't in the mood for any of our normal pizza delivery places (Gotham, Pizza Boss etc.) so I figured I would give Italian Village a chance to knock my socks off – and they did!!
We ordered:
– Fresh Mozzarella Pizza, half meatball – it was totally delicious! Very thin, crispy crush. Not burnt, just delicious.
– Antipasto Salad – Loaded with cheese, salami, peppers and olives, it was great! My youngest daughter filled up on the salad and ended up eating her pizza for dinner!
We will definitely order again! I can't wait to try their entrees.
Okay so I love pizza. Hands down one of the best pizza places to order from in the UES (FINALLY)! We ordered a large plain pie and it was pure deliciousness. The cheese, the crust, everything was just perfect (Check out the pics)! I've ordered from other places in the area and none of them met my expectations but this pizza was so good. I'm so hungry now.
My fiancée and I were about two months into living into New York and the pizza cravings have intensified.
But what is a poor couple to do when it's hitting 9PM and it's mad windy outside? Trek 10 blocks over to Italian Village Pizzeria because the pictures on Yelp showed some thin and mad cheesy slices.
Long story short, we came, we saw, we ordered… a large pie! Cause we did not just battle gusts of wind to eat one slice each. We split it up and went half pepperoni for her, and half meatball for me. We saved half and took the rest home.* Overall, it's good and so far it's the best we've had on the Upper East Side!
*For the curious, we transferred the leftovers into a small box. Ain't no way I'm carrying a large pizza box in the wind. Mad props to all you deliverymen and women.
There is a basic slice operation in front, but what sets this place apart is the family oriented, casual, red sauce joint in the back, dishing out all the favorites.
Service is quick and efficient, if not the friendliest.
Food will bring back memories of chicken parm past. The food is serviceable, but really love the nostalgia here. Stick w the basics and you'll be fine.
Good place to take kids, they can be Loud and no one cares.
I was really disappointed with their countertop pizza slices. Not fresh.
I looked at Yelp reviews to check out a new pizza spot and tried this one based on positive Yelp reviews. But when I went to pick up some slices, nothing looked fresh. Everything on the 6 visible pizza trays on display had been sitting there long enough that the cheese was looking hard – this was between 730 and 8pm.
I decided to order just a couple slices and get takeout from somewhere else. I ordered a plain slice, pepperoni slice and a pepperoni roll. So not good and when I brought them home to my son and brother, nobody liked the slices or roll and it all remained uneaten.
I suppose an entire pizza pie would be fresh so I can't talk to that but the hardened cheese … Ew. Not a good reflection of the freshness and quality they keep of their food .. I likely won't go back which is unfortunate because it's a cute little spot with friendly employees and a cute little dining area in the back .
Good solid Italian Pizzeria food at very, very reasonable prices. Two Sicilian Slices and a soda were 5.50$
The Sicilian slices were excellent as well as the plain. I have had a couple of their sandwiches and they were excellent as well. There is a front seating section that gets crowded quickly, then there is a larger one in the back. Place is always busy so the pizza in the display cases does not hang around long.
Overall and excellent choice for quality as well as value when in the area. There are similar establishments in the area where you will pay 2-3 times more for less and the food sucks.
I come here everything I'm in town. New York pizza and heroes are delicious. My favorite meal is the eggplant parmesean hero. There's 2 types of eggplant hereo, the eggplant that is thinly sliced and egg battered and fried or thickish slice eggplant breaded and fried. I love the first version and not so much the other. The pizza place looks like the typical casual restaurant toward the front, but towards the back is a little more formal with cloth covered table tops, dim lights and they serve food on real plates and silverware opposed to paper and plastic. They also have waiters but in my opinion the ones that served me weren't great. I waited much longer than I usually wait in the casual section. Front guys are nicer too. In my opinion why bother with the the back part if food takes longer and service is horrible…plus you feel obligated to tip. Anyway i still like the food regardless, I came here 3 times this week! There goes my diet but it's worth it because I won't be back in NY for another 6 months.
