I'm not sure if this is widely known but Joe Bastianich is behind a lot of the Italian Wine movement here. I guess he's the guy that sits in the shadows but brings you awesome selection. Tried some of his bastianich label Vespa Bianco, a wonderful blend that comes from Friuli (IMO where the best Italian whites come from). I wish there were a place like this where I lived cause I'd be taking home different bottles every week!
Had the pleasure of enjoying this place with a private event. There is an extensive variety of wines from Italy! I had a great time tasting wines from the northern and southern regions of italy along with amazing food! The cured meats were freshly cut and you could watch the chefs cook right in front of you! The menu included macaroni and cheese (not the boxed kind), bresaola, burrata, aged cheeses, specialty olives, beautiful white anchovies, melone, heirloom tomatoes, and delicious pane rustica… I felt like I was eating my way through italy again! Thanks Italian Wine Merchants for a full belly, a great wine palate, and unforgettable memories 🙂
Wine shop in the city, that hosted a private event.
Complete with a kitchen in the back, the sommelier was able to give a detailed explanation about all the wines.
For the Italian wines, they managed a pretty good selection, though it's not the easiest on the wallet.
Food was a mixed bag (fish and seafood good, cheese okay, and the dessert was so-so), but I can't consider that against them, I'm not sure if that was an internal food choice or catering.
The staff was very quick to bring whatever we needed, and the space was pretty well organized.
Downside: Only open until 7p and often closed for private events, so tough to get to unless I'm there for a scheduled event (since I tend to work late).
If you are looking for wine for a special occasion or just a nice bottle for dinner, this is the go to place. Fine wines from Italy, which prices ranging from about $30 to the very high end. They are extremely knowledgable and help me pair wines for a family Christmas dinner for 20. You just tell them each course and they will walk you through multiple options. They have some very unique wines from small producers that you will not find elsewhere. They also have some very nice desert wines. We were interested in some wines we had not experienced before and wanted to expand our knowledge, they were very helpful in pushing our limits with new flavors. Purchased 3 cases of various wine moving up to some powerful reds for the finish. They even opened up an nice new red they just got in and did a nice private tasting for us.

I attended a great wine tasting event here with food to match. The unassuming front facade opens to a surprisingly large venue. The back room offers an open kitchen where you can see the cooks at work. The little hors d'oeuvres were surprisingly good, especially the fluke sashimi with high-quality sweet uni on top. The main pasta entrees consisting of pumpkin (or squash?) ravioli and pappardelle with lamb (?) ragu were excellently executed resulting in flavorful al dente pasta.
…And the wines were pretty good too.
