I used to come here fairly regularly when I lived in Wayne.
I was in the area and stopped in for lunch. The place has not changed and the decor is still the same. Sat at the sushi bar and ordered the tuna tataki appetizer and the sashimi lunch.
The tataki was very good with plenty of spicy sauce. The sashimi was also good but I should have specified no fake crab because it is like eating a flavorless sponge.
All in all it was as good as I recalled.
Decent place. But the chef was not entertaining. And the service nit so attentive. I had a water and soda and both ran out. No came to see if I wanted a refill. They came to the table but did not offer anything.
I will say the bright spot was. That for lunch the portions were huge.
But no personality from staff. I would try another before returning here.
I would really give this place 3.5 stars. It seemed a little run down, dark and old fashioned. Not too comfortable dining there when it's next to a motel that looks beat down and where I see police cars in the parking lot often. The place is clean though, the food is good and the prices can't be beat. I went for a lunch time hibachi special it was $9 and had a huge portion! I have had better hibachi though in the past
This place was just ok. Ordered the seafood dinner with fried rice. Came with shrimp, scallop, and lobster. Cool show, better than most I've seen. Make sure you get the Asian guy, he does more tricks. Food was a little overcooked for my taste and way too much soy sauce. Not sure why it was the only seasoning they had. Each platter is big enough to share for two. Service was good.
I have been to a few Hibachi steakhouses and they all start to blend.
The usual chef throwing food and sharpening his cooking utensils.
You start out with a salad with ginger dressing (drenched) and a soup.
Everything comes onto your plate in sections. First the rice, noodles, veggies and then the meat.
All of the food is prepared before you. It looks and tastes fresh. The service is a bit spotty. Prices are high but you get a lot of food. Enough so to bring home.
It's gaudy but that's expected.
Our first time celebrating my little ones birthday. Always love the idea of the food being cooked in front of you. Never have to allow the imagination to run about what's going on in the kitchen.
Our cook was very entertaining making flaming volcanoes out of onions rings. Shaping a heart out of the cooking rice and even giving it a heartbeat with his spatula. My two little one saw the grill and right away looked at me and said, Daddy you must get one…..Ummmm…yea OK ladies I know I am always grilling but let not get crazy.
Anyway, the place was clean and the staff well mannered and accommodating. We had the Filet Mignon and Chicken with fried rice, noodles and veggies. Everything was enjoyable and they give you enough to take home. We will definitely be going back soon.
After driving past a few hundred times, my husband and I finally decided to try this place. We skipped the hibachi table and dined in the regular restaurant part.
First of all, that annoying drum that the hostess uses to announce arrivals is the worst idea ever. I'm sure it serves some useful purpose to the other employees, but it's irritating to hear it go off during dinner, as it can be pretty loud. There must be a better system!
Service was a little confusing. One server came to get our drink order and deliver them, then another server asked us for our food order. We weren't sure whether there was supposed to be two servers or if there was some miscommunication as to who was in charge of our table.
My main disappointment was with the food. The miso soup tasted unusually salty (or possibly fishy.) The salad and dressing were fine, but the dressing to salad ratio was too high. Last, the vegetable hibachi was disappointing. Again, too much sauce on the vegetables, which were disproportionately onion. My date's steak hibachi dinner had the same amount of vegetables, but mine had more noodles. Not sure why the veggie hibachi wouldn't come with more veggies than the other meals. Husband paid the extra $3 for the fried rice, which was just rice drowned in soy sauce. No veggies or anything else added.
I'd like to see the sauces adjusted and quality of the veggie hibachi meal improved. It currently consists of onion, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and noodles. I would add carrots and corn or snow peas and decrease the amount of onion. The steamed rice and noodles are pretty soggy and could probably be remedied by monitoring the cooking time. That probably won't happen since this place appears to be more about the entertainment value than the food, though. We'll keep looking for a good hibachi place!
Great hibachi place and reasonably priced! They have a full service bar so you can get a drink while you wait for your table. Food is consistently good, but chef's entertainment level is hit or miss. The only real flaw this place has is the wait. Even if you make a reservation, you'll wait in the main waiting room for half an hour and the secondary waiting room for another ten minutes.
