Decent pizza if you're comparing to the other places in the area. They are pretty quick on delivery as well.
What can I say? I grew up about two blocks from here. Two abnormally long blocks, but nevertheless two blocks. I used to get pizza and pasta here all the time even before it was called J&D, forgot the previous name. But that changed after prices got out of hand and also the pizzerias on 108 street were more price competitive and tastier. I have quite a few memories from this place, some good, mostly bad and same goes for Mark's stationary next door to this place. Anyways, it has definitely been well over 10 years since I have last been a patron of this establishment. It's nice to see the owner's son basically runs this place now.
Enough with my nostalgic mumbo jumbo.
I walked by the other day and saw a special, $9.99 for a large cheese pie. This was a deal too good for me to pass up. The pizza itself was okay, pretty typical New York style. As Hunter M. says, it's really nothing special, but it's really about the memories.
Now if I specifically talk about the bad, well service, from in-person, on the phone to delivery, has always been and continues to be not that great. Let's just say the employees here are the epitome of the unfriendly New Yorker stereotype. I just noticed Nu F.'s review that mentions the guy on the phone. Well my friends, that is how everybody who works there is.
Very nice people. I usually get delivery. My soup arrived piping hot today and it's 20 degrees out! Nice work!!! Caesar salad always delicious. Soups are fresh and the clam chowder is so yummy. Check this place out!
This is a great little Italian place. It has been there forever. They have nice lunch specials which come in handy during the week. Prices have gone up relatively the last few years but at least the quality of the food hasnt changed. I always order out vs dine in. Their delivery is timely. My only complaint is that about a year ago they changed their home made dressing [ceasar] to package style from Kraft. The homemade version was so much better. Looses the authentic feel when you send me packaged dressing. Favorite items are the plain pizza, garlic knots, ceasar salad [until dressing was changed], and shrimp salad, chicken francese is out of this world. Keep up the good work!
Their grandma slices are the ish. Usually I hate sweet sauce on pizza, but they put a scoop of it on top of their grandma slices and it's soooo tasty. Their baked ziti and lasagna are also very good.
The service is good – the guys are very friendly.
We love this place I have been a patron for over 7 years and it's always awesome food and service. My son Matt and his friends love it too and they always take care of my baby!!!!!!
