This is a family go to! My boyfriend and I have family that live just a few blocks away so we frequent here at least once a visit. Burgers are great, we never have had any problems with freshness, quality or service. Great place to have on late nights or nights you have been out drinking and need a bite to eat. You won't regret the calorie splurge here, promise.
Every time I'm in NYC and want a burger, Jackson Hole, home of the 7 ounce burger comes to mind. So what did I do tonight? You guessed it, I headed to the Columbus ave store and low and behold, it's closed!! Yes my go to store didn't get the lease renewed. Before my wife & kids could mutiny & throw me out the truck, I looked up the next closest store. Straight down third avenue to 64th street we went. My kids are used to the shiny diner decor so they were taken aback by the need to go DOWNSTAIRS from street level to get in. The decor is old western style (lots of John Wayne & Clint Eastwood posters) with some Marylin Monroe thrown in for good measure. This location is smaller than others I've been to, but the food & service are just the same. Gut filling food cooked how you like & with more topping than you can wrap your mouth around!! Great friendly service too.
The burgers drew me in. And the fact that the US location closed down so I wanted to give another branch a try in case they all shut down.
Very disappointed though. I got a pizza burger. Yes, the burger was massive. I couldn't finish it all even if I wanted to. But sadly I didn't want to. The marinara sauce made the bun way too soggy. The burger itself was nearly cold by the time I got it. The fries were great though! So we're the complimentary pickles.
Server was friendly but slow. It was also busy though so I don't know if she was the only one or not.
I'd go back for fries. But that's about it.
This place is more like 3.5 stars but I'll bump it up to a 4 anyway for good measure. The burgers are huge! BUT I felt like they were lacking in seasoning, just a bit. They did however cook it to perfection, which is great. The root beer float in a mason jar was adorable and I highly recommend it. It washed the burger down extremely well. Service was great too, a latina woman served me and she was super friendly. So overall, even though the burger needed a bit more seasoning, my experience here was still a good one.
Not only are their burgers the biggest burgers I have ever seen, they are the most delicious biggest burgers ever. The bun also holds up to this giant burger. Pretty easy to eat unless you load it up with a ton of toppings. We loved the burgers and fries, so we decided give something else on the menu a try – a sandwich. The grilled chicken sandwich is as big and giant as the burgers! The sandwich is big enough for three people to eat. And it was delicious. Fresh grilled onions and mushrooms (not canned)! Definitely will order from here again. Yum. Burger heaven.
I am not enamored of this place. To be fair, I only order out of desperation when it's late or I am sick.
I don't know why people like it so much but maybe if you order the burger in the restaurant when it's not cold and in need of reheating, the bun isn't wet, slimy, and soggy, and you haven't waited 40 minutes for a burger when you're near starvation, it's better.
Also, they ask how you want it cooked. That's promising and solicitous. But they don't execute your desire. So it's 12 bucks plus all the extra tip for a walkup to have a soggy overcooked burger with a weird bun and not enough cheese. If my microwave worked, I'd have reheated it. But after 2.5 flight delay from Fort Myers (gorgeous airport with crappy food), I didn't have the wherewithal to heat up the oven. Plus the bun is all encrusted on the meat.
It's a desperation delivery place. No more.
My husband loved it—like 5 star loved it. To me it could've been seasoned better. Tight space–hence "hole".
I ordered a burger with Monterey and bacon.
Hubby got a burger with cheddar.
Fries were–steak fries–crispy and good. Had to add own salt.
It's a little dingy hole, in the ground/basement, the staff are very nice, quick and accommodating.
I just noticed that I hadn't wrote a review for this fine establishment, well that changes now.
I have been coming here since I was a fetus (yes inside of my mom). Yes it's been many moons since I was in there (my mom, not Jackson Hole, this has gone terribly wrong)…
Here's the deal as time has past the prices have increased. Inflation I guess. BUT the portions and tastes are still the same large and delicious. The burgers are what Jackson hole is known for. They are huge, so big I'd recommend for your health not eating an entire burger – either alone or in one sitting. (Seriously). Damn are they tasty and enjoyable.
At this juncture of the story I can no longer eat BEEF, so I get the Turkey burgers. So flavorful and like the hamburgers you are able to choose from a variety of prearranged burgers.
My last outing with my lady we ordered (and shared) a Southwest Turkey burger which means onions and guac on top (we opted for sautéed vs raw onions.) Instead of deluxe (includes fries) we opted for a side of Jackson Hole's yummy Potato Salad. Less greasy and you still get a potato fix.
At the table they bring you pickles, always a favorite and sometimes we have to ask for more.
Other honorable mentions for your delight are the Bronco (grilled chicken) sandwiches, which also come in a variety of prearrangements – like the burgers.
Chicken fingers parmigiana hero! served on garlic bread and with a side of that aforementioned potato salad. with lettuce and tomato. (Probably should share this too).
And a vanilla milkshake (I believe haagen daas ice cream is used — ahhh hormones, but so tasty damn you haagen daas!).
Sweet potato fries with mayo are my favorite fries offered.
I look forward to my next outing to Jackson hole whenever that random occurrence may happen.
