  1. The chocolates from Jacques Torres are amazing, and the flavors are well balanced. The variety of chocolate flavors and styles is fitting of Torres' MOF status. I had a hot coco in the store that I was pleased with, but I would split it with a friend next time. Towards the end of the cup of chocolate, it felt like a chore to drink. The reason I gave this place only 4 stars is because it was difficult to find (it was in the labyrinth of an underground section), and there weren't that many seats.

  2. Nice roomy location compared to some. I can sit here to have a cookie and coffee   Not crowded with long lines. Lots of gift ideas. Very relaxing with friendly employees. They do not go for the hard sell. All are on task and not peering over your shoulder. I'll return when I come to Roc Center.

  3. This chocolate is excellent! Their truffles just melt in your mouth and are so soft! My favorite was the Earl Grey Tea.

The hot chocolate was killer. Woow. Super thick, perfect sweetness. This is what hot chocolate should thrive to be. I regret forgetting to ask for whipped cream though.

This is next to the Starbucks on the lower level. Facing starbucks, take the turn on the right hand side. It's close to the Top of the Rock shop, but more towards the east.

They charge 25 cents for a bow to wrap your chocolate. Pretty lame in my opinion… the chocolate is expensive enough as it, and it just feels cheap for them to charge additional for such a meager thing.

  4. Got Milk- like a drop of milk chocolate goodness 😉 I see Mr. Jacques appeared on the Today Show so I had to go and try out his fine chocolates.  My first  choice was the Heavenly Hazelnut was indeed "heavenly".

I got an assorted gift box from here as a gift and loved every variation. Really good quality! Not to mention a great location.

  5. I love Jacques Torres, they have served me well whenever I wanted a little sweets, or needed a good gift to someone for birthday or holidays.

Here inside the Rockefeller Plaza, the shop is very bright with their usual orange and dark brown, and of course, chandeliers. Just being in that color scheme and bright light filled with aroma of chocolate makes you happy.  One side of the store is hot chocolate section, and the other, all the chocolaty sweets, and ice cream sandwich, cookies, etc.

We got some hot chocolates, a chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate covered cheerios. All of them were really fantastic, tasty, sweet, chocolate heaven.'

The staff here, 2 young guys, were really sweet and nice. They gave us a sample of their chocolate chip cookies (which we bought) when we walked in. As we were enjoying the hot chocolate and the cookies, they gave us more sample, even though we already had sample cookies and bought one. They were really friendly and answered any questions that we had, and gave us recommendations of their offerings. I wish if I got their names, as they were so nice and kind, which we don't see often in NYC (sadly). Read my full review on the shop and food on my food blog at foodlovergirl.

  6. I've been using Jacques Torres' NY Times recipe for chocolate chip cookies since it came out, so it's always been on my culinary bucket list to try the real thing. While in Rock Center, we fought our way through the crowds and into this tiny chocolate store in order for me to fulfill that dream. $3 bought me a large cookie packed with chocolate, and when I asked for it to be heated up, they gave me one that had already been placed on a warming pan.

Did it live up to the hype? Yes and no. Sadly, the cookie seemed to be a little old, as the cookie part was a dry. That paired with the bread flour in it made the cookie extremely chewy, moreso than any other cookie I've had, and I wasn't sure if I liked it. That said, once I hit the layers and layers of high-quality chocolate inside, I stopped caring about the chewiness and just floated along in chocolate bliss. Seriously though, there is SO much chocolate in these cookies, and it oozed everywhere after being heated up. I felt like the entire inside of the cookie was just a pool of chocolate. My boyfriend was less enthused, saying he preferred chocolate chip cookies where there's a higher cookie to chocolate ratio. If you're a serious chocoholic like me, you'll be satisfied.

Was it the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had? No. But let's be honest–the best chocolate chip cookies are the ones that come straight out of the oven. I still enjoyed this cookie, but for now, I'll stick to the ones I make at home.

  7. Sampled a Bon bon and it was delish! Lots of options, a bit expensive, but worth a try!

  8. Came specifically to try the chocolate chip cookie. It didn't meet the high expectations, but it was decent.

Chocolate was delicious, nice texture contrast between soft in the middle and harder on the outside (even warmed), but the cookie had a flour, crumbly texture. They were either past their prime (came in after 6PM) or too much cake flour. I'm sure it would've been more crumbly had I not asked it to be warmed (takes ~5 minutes on the flat griddle behind the counter).

Shop is intimate with other cookies, chocolates and drinks. Only two small tables so I wouldn't plan on staying.
