A really good dinner and a beer option in the neighborhood. I like the 4 sausage and sides platter to share with a friend. Always a range of creative sausages and lots of variety. Weird little tiny spot with good quality food and lots of beer!
Formerly known as Der Kommissar, the space now known as Jake's Handcrafted remains one of my favorite spots in South Slope. At least a year before the official name change, Der Komm had been under new management, and, under the auspices of Jake, some changes were instituted. So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, goodbye to the garden gnomes; the Zweigelt; the Landjäger (inside the Der Bloody or otherwise); Scottie, the bartender; lame game Wednesdays; and the tree that no longer grows in this Brooklyn patio. The carefully curated wines available by the glass remain reasonably priced and are no longer limited to German/Austrian but still hail from the Old World; I enjoyed a lovely glass of La Belle Fleur Viognier for $7. The ample beer offerings have remained more or less constant, the original, quirky interior design is intact, and the largely unchanged brunch deal is as hearty as the new staff is gracious.
