Jane
“Amazing french toast at Jane's. It seems like it's a skipping record to say what everyone else says but seriously.”
“We both decided to go with the Benedict Johnny which was a lovely sweet-and-savory twist on the traditional eggs benedict dish.”
“Each brunch entree comes with a free cocktail (if after NOON) or a free fresh squeezed juice–GRAPEFRUIT YESS.”

Brunch in Manhattan can get pricey. Especially for eggs and, well eggs in other variations. I've been here twice. Once on a slow weekday for lunch, and another time for Sunday brunch. The place is def over hyped. There is nothing that stands out or makes Jane special. The food is VERY mediocre…
My friends and I all got a few top brunch items: Eggs Benedict, Sicilian baked eggs, and Ranchero waffle. The waffle was overbearingly corny. Literally. It seemed a bit grainy and I did not enjoy that. The brunch menu seems to be shrinking from what I'm seeing on Yelp. You get a complimentary cocktail (which is weak) or juice with a brunch entree.
I'd suggest going to Astoria for brunch. Heartier and cheaper. It's nearly a tourist trap in the city.
7/10: So, I was going to give this place 3 stars but the actual food and service were great. My dish along a couple other came out really late (I'm talking 20-25 minutes after everyone else's food). However, the staff didn't charge us for those entrees, they brought out a complimentary salad and fries as well as giving us a few free drinks. So, part of rating a restaurant comes down to how well the restaurant operates and how well it handles its errors. In this case theses folks did everything correctly to handle their mistake!
Came to this famous brunch spot on the weekend around noon. You should definitely get reservations because there was a long line outside the restaurant.
Favorites:
-I got the avocado toast and really loved it. I don't think they make it in a special way or anything but I really enjoyed it. It was multi-grain bread with a generous portion of avocado and some really crisp lettuce on top. Really delicious! I took the egg off just because it was a little too much for me. But otherwise, A+ for the avocado toast!
-My friends also really liked their complimentary bread with strawberry cream cheese? but I didn't like it because well…I am weird and I don't like fruits in my bread but I'm sure any other person would love it. My friends asked for another basket!
Overall, I'd come back the food is great, the service is outstanding! Super friendly servers. Cute location, great food, great service.
Would I recommend it? Yes!
Came here for brunch for a friends birthday last summer. They were able to refrigerated our cake, sliced a cake and served it to us, and charged us a fee each person. Typical.
I got the lobster egg benedict. In my opinion the hollandaise sauce had a weird after taste to it.
Very little lobster, and over cooked egg. (It wasnt runny) Willing to try this place a gain! Hopefully it will be better the second time around!
This is still my favorite brunch spot in NYC … hands down.
It's not that other, more expensive and well-known options are bad, but it's more like this place is consistently good in all respects and the price of the food is reasonable in relation to what you get.
There's a reason why their signature French toast is highlighted on their brunch menu. It is ridiculously good. It almost has a cake-like texture. The crust of the brioche bread they use is awesome and the toast itself has a vanilla-like buttery texture. They soak it in what is pretty much a creme brulee batter and that gives the dish a totally amazing aroma and will completely satisfy any french toast lover. If you had only room to eat one thing here for brunch – this is simply it.
But what makes Jane awesome is how so many of their other dishes consistently hit it out of the park for me. The Benedict Jane crabcake dish is simply terrific. Generous and flavorful helpings of crab coupled with a delightful pairing with fresh eggs score high in my book. I also tried their shrimp and cheese grits dish and I'm seriously getting hungry just thinking about it as I type. It's hard to describe just how the lovely flavors of the shrimp, sauce, egg, cheese and grits (along with some chorizo sprinkled in) all mesh so perfectly – but trust me it does.
The ambiance here is lively and I honestly really enjoy spending my Sunday mornings here (even if they can't serve booze before noon). The service is friendly and the experience is as good as it gets. I also appreciate that while prices aren't uber cheap, it really feels reasonable in light of what you're getting for your money. Hell, even the free raisin bread with strawberry butter knocks it out of the park.
If you want a good brunch experience, you totally can't go wrong here. Don't take my word for it. Just come here in the morning and see for yourself when you get a glimpse of how many people typically show up.
Came here for brunch. It is a pretty popular spot so you have to make a reservation if you want to have brunch here. The food was good, nothing crazy especial. The service was slow! Good for big parties. They take reservations for but groups.
Let me start by saying that everyone was friendly and professional. The maitre d' girls were very helpful and seated us at our table almost right away.
The food was OK. I don't understand the hype about some of these brunch places, yet I am not a brunch kinda guy.
I would say go for it if you have people visiting (with their guidebooks or Yelp! recommendations – hehe) but I would NOT wait for a table for more than 15 minutes at Jane.
Came for brunch with my friend on a Sunday morning with no reservation–ouch! We found two seats at the bar… Score!!! The hostess was very kind to take our luggage to their luggage took while we ate. Appears this is not Janes first rodeo, they have their own luggage room!
Service (5/5), food (5/5) my friend got the huevos rancheros and I got an omelet! Our food came with a free breakfast drink– say what?!
Make a reservation!! But definitely come to Janes!
