“I miss the old location but it's still got a laid back atmosphere, great service and quality food!”

“The yosenabe is excellent and the aburi is to die for – especially when served right after being seared.”

  1. Melt in your mouth uni. The wait was much shorter than they originally told us. Worth the wait!

  2. This place is alright. We ended up here because Grey Dog was packed and it was raining.

They give you lots of food with their bento box. Pretty presentation.
The prices are on the steep end. I definitely feel like I paid too much, even for the area. My friend hated her udon dish. I think the food was better last time I was here – before they moved  down the block and remodelled.

The ambiance is good. The service too. I don't think I would come back because the food didn't impress me.

  3. Came here on NYE spontaneously since we are heading to a party afterwards. It was 9:20 and pretty empty. I'd say half empty the whole time we were there. This is my first time going to the new location. It was really nice decor with the wood work. Since it was my second dinner, I only ordered the octopus appetizer. My bf ordered the dinner bento and his sister ordered the appetizer sashimi. They were all really good tho I'd say portions are Asian sized, aka small. I don't rmb the place being over priced but I certainly don't think it is a good bang for your buck.
It's a good choice if you are around the neighborhood.

  4. Great sushi.  Fish is very fresh.  Great location great venue good vibes. Great service.  5 stars all around.

  5. Very friendly service and fresh fish. It's a great spot for a quick sushi bite. I went there around 6p on a Monday which is probably why I could hear myself think and my bestie, speak. I'll have to remember this spot for my next trip. It's right off Union Square.

  6. Great location and super fresh and well prepared sushi and entrees. Our group of 10 was able to call ahead for a Sunday lunch and when we walked in 15 minutes later they were all ready for us. They have a lunch special that extends to weekends, which most of us got. The price point is a little higher than other sushi places, but the quality is also a little higher. (FYI: No high chairs provided.)

  7. Pleasant atmosphere and good location, however the food itself was a disappointment and doesn't encourage a second visit.

Waiters oversell their dishes with extravagant names and intricacy in preparing the dish. For example, their "ROYAL JAPONICA" (which is really just salmon teriyaki) costs $29. You can find similar probably tastier dishes for half that price. The waiter convinced me to get it after talking about how expensive this specific cut of the fish is and how long it takes to prepare.

Assuming what he said was true they definitely don't do justice to the fish.

At the very least I always had a full cup of water.

Final verdict: Overpriced for mediocre food!

  8. Came to this restaurant on the recommendation of my daughter who lives in the area. Although she recommended that I order sushi, I wasn't in the mood for sushi. We ordered steamed vegetable dumplings which were very good. We also ordered a salad as well as miso soup. The salad had the usual ginger dressing.  The salad was fresh and a nice sized   The miso soup was a nice size as well.

My wife ordered ginger chicken which came with carrots and string beans. She also had the option of ordering brown rice. The gingered chicken was very tender and tasty. I ordered the Bento Box which included some asparagus, dumplings, shrimp and vegetable tempura. The Bento Box was s nice change from the usual Chinese fare.

When i return I will definitely order the sushi or sashimi.

The wait staff was very friendly and polite. The restaurant was small but clean. It was nicely decorated.
