my second time here and it was just as good! the waiters were awesome and friendly. I felt like a minority here being the only Asian along with my other Asian and Spanish friend and everyone else was Spanish lol. I loved it though, I spoke to the waiters in our native language while getting our Spanish/Chinese orders in.
The breaded chicken cutlet was delicious. My friends loved their dishes as well which was chicken fried rice with no egg and ropa vieja with mixed fried rice and plantains.
The food comes out quick and the wait for a table isn't long at all unless you have a large group. Parking on the street was easy and the place was clean.
Asian Latin fusion spot that I've been going to since I can remember. This was my dad's favorite spot and he will take the family every Friday to enjoy fried rice con tostones, fried chicken, bistec and ensalada con aguacate.
It was the same dishes every Friday but I love that we had a tradition by coming here every week. When I make my way to Corona I always make sure I head over to Junction Blvd and get the usual from Jardin De China.
Four stars because from what I remember the food was way better before the renovations years ago, but hey the food is still good and not too greasy and those Chinos can speak better Spanish than I can.
Let me start off by saying I am not one who enjoys eating meat outside. For this place, I will make an exception. The bistec is cooked to perfection. Comes with onions, white rice, and some of the best plaintains I ever had. Always so sweet and made just right. Its only thing I have tried on the menu over the years. Its that good,I didnt want anything else. Really have to give credit for the portions too, and its only 12$. A fair deal. Always pretty busy here. Staff is quite and eager to please.
My review is based on a takeout order. I kept it it really simple and I ordered a pint of the mixed fried rice and a pint of the shrimp fried rice. I'm so glad this place does fried rice the way its supposed to be done, with egg, veggies,meat/seafood and NOT using yellow rice!!! (thats a big pet peeve of mine) both were tasty but the mixed fried rice was very very good. They seem to be very popular, which is always a good sign. I will definitely visit again!
i love spanish/chinese fusion and this place is cheap with huge portions. kind of a divey/greasy spoon place but that was just what i was in the mood for. ordered the bistec carne with french fries and rice. $13.50 for a steak that was so flavorful and the size of my head. you can't beat that.
We walked in on a Saturday night around 7pm and were seated immediately. It took us 15 mins to decide what we wanted because everything looked so good.
The waiter was patient with us and gave us as much time as we needed. It was hard to understand him because he had a thick Spanish accent, however we ended up getting exactly what we wanted.
We started off with two small bottles of Zinfandel. We were going to order appetizers but they didn't offer any. We placed our orders of Ropa Vieja and Chicharron De Pollo Sin Hueso. Both dishes come with the choice of fried plantain or French fries, and white rice or black beans with rice. We ordered the black beans with rice and maduros.
I didn't want my rice and beans so I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo Dominicano (Chicken Rice Dominican Style) with a side of Ensalada De Aguacate (Avocado Salad).
Everything was seasoned to perfection and delicious. My Chicharron wasn't salty and the Arroz Con Pollo Dominicano was very flavorful. The deliciousness of the dish exploded all over my palate. Babe enjoyed his food as well. The Ropa Vieja was phenomenal. The avocado was fresh and creamy.
We were stuffed and ended up taking 3/4s of the food home. I'd like to know where's the mofongo. I wanted to order it but couldn't find it on the menu.
They wait staff were sooooo nice. I really wanted to give this restaurant a better review but the food was not what I expected, unfortunately. I got a little greedy, so I ordered two plates for me: mofongo (mashed plaintains cooked with pork skin) and ropa vieja (shredded beef). The mofongo tasted like it was cooked in old oil. I didn't find any meat. The sauce that it came with looked like a darker version of duck sauce. It was a little sweet too. The rope vieja combo platter was ok; I ordered mixed rice and tostones as my sides. Unbeknownst to me, the mixed rice comes with shrimp. So if you are allergic, please ask the staff to hold the shrimp. The rice had a good flavor. It reminded me of my mom's cooking. My boyfriend ordered from the Chinese menu and got chicken with mushrooms and moro (white rice mixed with black beans). The chicken was served on a metal platter, so it kept the dish really hot. The chicken was a little dry but had decent flavor. The rice was good.
The portions were very big and the dishes were cheap. I am not sure if they were having an off day or I ordered the wrong dishes. I did notice a few people that ordered steak with onions and it looked good.
This place is my goto for chino Latino food in queens. Must of the really good places are no longer around. I enjoy coming here for my Latin steak and fried rice fix or how about some monfogo with pork fried rice. Yup it's a most if you grew up Latin. You can find some interesting mix of Latin and Chinese here. They also offer batidos and a tasty flan.
