Been coming here for over 10 years, and let me tell you, the food is bomb. In a place where you can barely get good Spanish food, since they're in fierce competition with the Caribbean establishments Jennifers holds their own. I always come in there for a Cubano or when I'm in the mood, some oxtails, Arroz con frijoles and the mofongo.
On this side of Queens they can't be beat when it comes to good Dominican food. Elenas used to be good but they changed owners so yeah go here instead if you're on this side of Queens.
Plus I heard Jose Nunez (old Mets legend) owns the place with his wife. So that's cool to know.
I love supporting local business and I got enough food to feed a party of 6 for just $20! The fried chicken was great but my favorite was the stew chicken with rice and beans. Going back tomorrow to try the pork!
Great, inexpensive Dominican spot. I would frequent this spot when going to get my hair done on Jamaica Avenue many moons ago. The hot food is phenomenal. It's usually the hole in the wall spots that consistently serve amazing food with large portions.
This spot is small. Think the size of a standard NYC closet. There is barely any breathing room but don't be alarmed. You'll walk away with a yummy meal that does not break your pockets or wallet.
We were there in the afternoon and there was only one person before us… Guess it was after the lunch crowd. We ordered a couple of items to go, but it took quite some time for the mofongo and a Cuban sandwich. We also ordered a roasted chicken with rice and beans as well as a chicharron de pollo.
The best thing was definitely the Cuban sandwich. Bread was crispy, a good balance of pork and ham, needed a lil more pickles in my opinion. Maybe a lil more mustard would've been nice.
The mofongo was so dry. I tried a very small bite. I didn't like the sauce either. I wouldn't recommend it… L didn't think it came with enough sauce, but it was also cold.
The chicharron de pollo was good. Not as crispy as it could've been. Rice and black beans were healthier than other Dominican places, but a bit bland. No one really cared for the roasted chicken. It's nothing special.
Most of the food were cold by the time we ate it, whereas other places have managed to keep foods hot with the same commute time. The food was just okay, nothing that would make me come back.
If I was in the area, the only thing I wouldn't mind getting again would prob be the Cubano.
I've definitely had better Dominican food in corona and at home. Portions were slightly smaller than the other Dominican place a couple of blocks away. I wanted to try Jennifer's after seeing all the great reviews and I was quite disappointed.
cheap delicious hole in the wall restaurants? i'm in there like swimwear!
jennifer's restaurant is a dinky 3-4 seat restaurant. i ordered take out from here so I didnt get the pleasure of being crammed in there but have passed by the establishment several times.
the delivery was prompt and came to my place in around half an hour
i ordered the stewed chicken, stewed goat, the pernil azado, and the pork mofongo. all with yellow rice and peas and sweet plantains, all that for a total of 28 dollars.
the pork here was awesome, but what really stole the show was the pork skin that they give you a HUGE slab of. both the pernil azado and the pork mofongo had a giant glob of pork skin……needless to say i was a happy camper
the stewed chicken and stewed goat were solid. the potions were generous, and the taste was good. The seasoning was a little bit underwhelming, could use a little something extra but still legitimate.
overall this place is one of my favorites around the area. great food at a great price with a quick delivery time. would suggest coming here if you're around the area
Best place to get breakfast in Jamaica Queens.
Usually order the 4.50 breakfast special, which consists of two eggs cooked any style, homefries, and white or wheat toast. If you want to add sausage or bacon that would be like extra dollar.
Service is quick and fast. There might be a small wait during peak times from 7 to 10am in the morning when people are trying to get some food before the day starts.
Location is in corner of the Sutphin Blvd F train station. So if you're headed to work, this place is a great spot to grab something. Small window seating on the side.
They also serve lunch and dinner. Beef, chicken stew with beans on rice is their classic staples.
