Dig the hotdogs here. Italian was a lot of unnecessary bread but w/e. The heart stopper is a complete mess but one of the tastiest things on the menu. It's got bacon and chili and some hot jalapeños too. Prices are on point at like 4 bucks a dog so 4 stars
Come here for the hotdogs. They are Thummans and they are very good. The all the way sauce was lacking….wasn't terrible but wasn't as good as other places. The burger was not good at all. It tasted like it came straight from the freezer.
You live and learn, next time I'll stick to hot dogs, skip over the all the way sauce and go with some sauerkraut, relish and mustard.
I'm still trying to find what I consider to be my favorite hot dog joint in Jersey…so I keep finding new places and trying them out. I'm a member of a Facebook group (Hot Dog Nation) where I heard about Jersey Johnny's.
I've been to a LOT of hot dog places over the past three years so I know what I like, and I dont think I'm as big a fan of Jersey Johnny's as a lot of other folks, but maybe they were just having a bad day…or maybe it's just my own issues, who knows. It was NOT about a poor product, but rather I wasn't a big fan of some of the flavors…let me explain-
First off, you can get three different sized dogs here, which is a nice twist, and they have all your normal toppings. The fries looked good, but I passed-it was only me and the serving size was too big. Anyway, I had one of their medium sized dogs all the way…and I thought it was a little bland – Chili seemed like it was missing something, but I don't know what it was. I also ordered a jumbo dog with chili, cheese and onions and it was little better, but just ok. It was a little better than the medium dog, but I also don't know why-wish I could put my finger on it. I expect a certain 'bite' from the chili and this just didn't happen here.
Prices are good for the amount of food you get and parking is plentiful. Maybe they were just having an off-day because there seemed to be lots of regulars here. Looking forward to a new one opening up in Denville soon.
