  1. Yum! Had this after hanging out at Pianos in the lower east side on Saturday night. Hits the spot without being overly greasy. It was $3/slice. The man was super friendly and nice and even cut our one piece into three slices so I could share with my friends. He heats it up on the spot and after I ate my portion, I regretted not purchasing more! Yummy. I want a slice now. I always get so hungry yelping at night….

  2. On the last workday of the year, my carb-fearing colleague decided to take a leap of faith and get a pie from Jiannetto's, which is always in the neighborhood. Although we didn't call ahead of time, waiting for a full pie to be made only took about 7-10 minutes, which isn't all that bad of wait time when it's unseasonably mild outside. The pizza itself is unlike most other pizzas one will encounter. Whereas cheese is usually the main ingredient on top of the pie, Jiannetto's is smothered in tomato sauce, with only a sprinkling of parmesan to be accounted for (along with a few less-than-impressive leaves of basil). For that style, it's alright, and I like that the Sicilian-style crust isn't overbearingly heavy to eat. That said, pizza doesn't taste that great when it's just tomato sauce on the crust. It's decent for what it is, but it's not my style. And for $2.75/slice (or $19 for a pie), it's more expensive than going to a regular pizza shop.

Nice and convenient if you're in the Midtown area for work, or if tomato pizza is your thing, but I probably wouldn't stop by more than the occasional case of the munchies. Pizza without cheese is just not my forte.
