  1. BBQ is not an easy business to run. It takes a long time to prepare, requires a great deal of attention and generally, people are just picky about it. That said, BBQ delivery is an even harder business to run. Based on my one and only experience with Jim Dandy's, BBQ is not their problem. The ribs were outstanding and fell right off the bone just like everyone else has said. The only problem with them is they were cold upon being delivered. This isn't a huge deal, but when you just throw them in styrofoam and don't wrap them in foil first, loss of heat should be expected.

This place really should just stick to ribs. The sides aren't worth it. The person over the phone told us the fries weren't fresh and that the mac and cheese wasn't like Kraft. Not really. It was exactly like Kraft, only inside a breaded triangle. And also frozen.

We noticed right away they forgot the baked potato, yet they packed butter and sour cream. When I called to tell them they forgot it, they actually asked if we still wanted it. Unbelievable. One hour later it arrived, without apology, and as Nathaly V. pointed out, she's had better from Wendy's.

  2. This place is a quick cheap OK place to go pick up some barbeque in Nutley. There is nothing fancy about this place. So if you lower your expectations going in, you won't be disappointed. Nothing I've ever eaten has stood out enough to mention, good or bad.

Now the mudhole bar attached – plain and simple is a shit hole. Its dark, dirty and I find the clientele creepy at best.

  3. Ordered this a couple of days ago to go with the first game oh the NFL season! I absolutely love the ribs in this place. Fall off the no-bone tender and the sauce is really tasty. We also got the roast chicken to prep for this important day. All I can say about it is that it was okay. Nothing special but not bad.

I definitely recommend coming here but I can only trek you to get the ribs since they're delicious. Also, another plus about this place is that the food comes out pretty quickly.

  4. this is one of the best places for a burger/pulled pork sandwich around. had the italian hot dog here, wow! their panini's are superb. try the steak or pulled pork one, you will not be disappointed. the staff is awesome. friendly and fun. go next door to the mudhole and watch the game or hang out with the hot barmaids. one of my all time favorite places to hang out for a beer and their awesome food. sorry about the caps but it's just that good! 10 stars if i could.

  5. Succulent ribs!!
And that is pretty much what Jim Dandy's should stick to.

    Here is why:
The pulled pork sandwich had a good amount of pork but it wasn't juicy or particularly tender where I can say I wanted more and more and more ! The sauce just didn't do it for me!
In addition, it lacked good amount of smokiness.

When I had the bbq chicken I thought it was overcooked and lacked flavor. I only kept eating because I was hungry !

Other fall backs were the chili, Mac and cheese and baked potato.
The Chili didn't have real beans in it. It must have been liquified-Not my fave.
Mac & cheese was ehh! Dry and pale.
Bake potato over cooked and dry! Try Wendy's instead.

  6. My girlfriend and I were so happy with Jim Dandy's. We came on a Monday night, so they had a special full rack of ribs for the price of a half rack. When you walk in, you order at the counter and then take a seat.

We split a full rack and disco fries. The ribs were absolutely amazing. Real BBQ ribs, not just lathered in BBQ sauce like a lot of fake imitation barbecue food. Tender, falling off the bone deliciousness.

The service was super friendly and also pointed out that they have a bar in a separate room that looked cool with dart boards and televisions. Will be back when I'm craving BBQ for sure!
