  1. I don't get cravings for burgers very often, but when I do, they hit me hard. I wanted a juicy, dripping, disk of ground beef and I wanted it now! (Preferably slathered in cheese and bacon).

I set out along 1st ave and started walking uptown thinking I'd have to hit something decent at some point. My intuition was right and before I knew it, a picture of Emeril Lagasse was staring at me from a tiny storefront called Jimbo's Hamburger PLACE (not PALACE).

I got the Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe. If you don't specify how you want it cooked, it comes out well done, which is no big deal because mine was still incredibly juicy.

A side of crispy outside, mashed potatoes inside, shoestring french fries completed the dish. For about $10, including a drink and tip, Jimbo's is going to be my burger spot from now on.

  2. Was it a burger? Yeah
    Was it good? Not really
Was it fast and cheap as hell? Absolutely

Went here just cuz I've been hungover as hell all day at work and don't feel like cooking or waiting long to get food. Walked up the block to Jimbos. Got a Texas burger and bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. Total was $21 bucks. Which is ridiculously cheap for NYC.

The place is tiny and a little dilapidated. One guy was working as chef, cashier, and waiter. That being said from the moment I stepped in and ordered to the moment I left took less than 15 minutes. So it was quick.

Burgers were both super subpar. I literally watched the guy pull two patties out of the freezer and drop em on the grill, like frozen pucks of meat. Cheap ingredients means a cheap taste. It was fine. Definitely edible. But for sure not anything to write home about. Onion rings were the frozen kind where they all look exactly the same in size and shape. The fries were whatever.

Probably won't be ordering from here again.

  3. Partied a little too hard last night?  Drag your tired, hungover self to Jimbo's and let Miguel work his magic.

I love the burgers here because they make them with chopped steak, so they have a delicious flavor and texture.  They have all sorts of burgers including my personal favorite, the texas burger – served with a fried egg on top.

This is not a fancy pants hamburger joint.  The best seats are the stools surrounding the counter area.  It's like the authentic version of what Johnny Rockets tries to be.

  4. Jimbo's is great for homestyle breakfast (bacon/eggs) or a nice, greasy, juicy burger. It's too small inside, so order out!

  5. Having walked by this small diner many times, I had to give it a try.

What grabbed my attention was the big picture of Emeril posted in the front window. This place is really small. There are 2 counters and about 3 tables.

Ordered a beef burger and fries. No matter where you sit in the restaurant you will be able to see your food being prepared. In no time my burger was ready. It was a simple meat patty topped off with a slice of tomato, onions, and lettuce. A small side of Cole Slaw also accompanies your meal. The burger didn't blow me away. The fries were warm and crisp.

The gentleman behind the counter is sweet. He is the cashier, cook, and server on most days. Extremely hard worker.

Jimbo's is a nice place to grab a quick bite if you're in the area. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here though.

  6. I love this place for burgers. The service is a quiet friendly. I got the Texan burger and my boyfriend got the cheeseburger deluxe. There were more than enough fries for us to share. The burger was also super reasonable priced. You can't get a whole meal like that, that is reliably tasty for 8 bucks just anywhere. I am absolutely making this a regular spot

  7. Ignore the "B" grade in the window, and scratch that itch of curiosity that you know you have each time you walk by Jimbo's. Just do it — put your concerns aside, grab a stool, and order yourself a burger. They serve other things too, but the star of the show here is a greasy, perfectly-griddled burger. Before the world went crazy with ridiculously expensive "gourmet" burgers, this is what real men and women would eat. Take a trip back to the good old days when everything was simpler and none the less delicious. Try a burger at Jimbo's today.
