This used to be owned by Jimmy Hoffa. Then it was bought by Jimmy Fallon back when he had Acne. He got rid of all of it except for one pimple, which he still has. It's known as Jimmy's Spot.
So I really didn't like Jimmy's Spot. I give it three stars just because it's locally owned and a food truck and decently priced and they're doing their best. But I found the rice to be the chalky kind (maybe from frozen), the chicken souvlaki was dry and boring, and the shish or gyro was a little bland and tasteless. So it did nothing for me, but I fully support them and hope that all of their fans continue to enjoy them for years to come.
I was steered away from XPL to try Jimmy's Spot due to the incredible ratings by fellow Yelpers. But in my humble opinion, this cart is certainly more appealing on paper than in actual experience.
Prices are average for food carts in the area with a double meat combo platter going for $6.50. Unfortunately, the platter is ruined by dry chicken and lamb. The rice was also too soggy to be really enjoyed. I only wanted to write this review after ensuring this was not a one-time occurrence given the high marks already given. I will have to be a non-conformist on this one and say I have definitely had better.
On the other hand, the portions are definitely larger than XPL despite the fact they can be stingy on the meat. Maybe there is something to be salvaged if I try the combo platter one more time with the Italian sausage, but it will probably be a while as I will try to forget the mediocre experiences thus far.
Not bad, I'm trying not to eat gut busting coma inducing lunches and what do i do? hoof it over to this place I'd been meaning to try. Yes, everything was in better quality than a typical halal cart, but then again, I went straight for the lamb, a very typical halal dish. maybe I'll come back, before the summer is over and take the advice of the other reviewers.
