CRAVING 4 SEAFOOD last Saturday evening! Walking into Joe's, you see numerous brightly colored T-shirts with peace signs for sale. Also, some "interesting signs" pertaining to "Crabs" adorn the walls.
The restaurant has a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating is fun in the warmer weather.  I sat at the bar. A very sweet and cheerful bartender Sal asked me what I wanted to drink. Sal had suggested a Sparkling Rita with what else-"Tequila".
The drink had a small Prosecco bottle hooked to the side of the glass.
As you drank, the bottle would continuously replenish your glass with Prosecco. LOL…
My entree was Blackened Mahi Tacos $12.49. The 3 tacos were delicious. The Mahi was so super fresh. The tacos were soft shells.
(In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I came back Monday evening and had it for takeout) .
I decided to have dessert that evening. Ordered a Key Lime pie. However, the key lime pie was too sweet for my palate. Also, it had a little too much cream topping for my liking.
Joe's Crab Shack is located in The Promenade Shoppes at Clifton. A large parking lot is available. Just a suggestion, on Saturday nights come early because the parking gets crazy.

Came here for a birthday gathering and had a great time. We sat outside which was nice as the weather was beautiful. We had a party of 9 and the waiter was attentive which was the key to our good experience here. Firstly, their alcoholic drinks are on point! Some of them limit you to 2 only; so be aware (Category 5 hurricane limit 2).

We ordered the Classic sampler and calamari for appetizers. They both were pretty good; the crab dip especially.

If you like spicy. You'll love The Ragin Cagin steam pot! We ordered it for 2 and it was more than enough. Is Joe's the best seafood I've ever had? No. But it is decent and definitely a step up from Red Lobster. It's worth the trip to eat here every now and then.

Didn't really like the atmosphere. I was here on a two dollar Tuesday, and it was crazy. If you feel like screaming across the table and not really getting the attention of your waitress (Rebecca I'm talking to you) who also happened to charge the wrong card TWICE when we tried to split the bill, come here and enjoy the ineptitude of this establishment.

Steam pot was generously portioned but too salty!! My crab legs were very meaty so that was a plus. The sides of corn and potatoes were bland. Service was fair but my friend and I were very upset we didn't get bibs (wtf) and our server wasn't very attentive towards us.

This place can get kinda rowdy as the servers stop to dance in the middle of the room at random times with music blasting.

For the price I didn't feel my meal was worth it. Seafood is something I'm picky about so I'll stick to more upscale places where I know it's more legit!

So I've been here a time or two and I feel as if the quality has been slipping a little bit but granted I'm pretty sure crabs aren't in season rite now so that has a lot to do with it I'm sure. The crabs were lacking meat and weren't as sweet as I'm used to.

I did however discover that Joe's offers up some of the best fried clam strips I have had to date.

Always good! The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is that it's LOUD! The servers do a dance every once in a while a la Johnny Rockets. It's kind of annoying and so loud you can't hear your party talking. Maybe it's because I'm older now but I don't find that fun, only annoying.
HUGE portions of seafood! I normally get the Dungeness crab. It's so sweet you don't even need to dip it in butter.
Cool drinks too served in mason jars.
    Service has always been adequate.

While looking for new places to stake out and Yelp on I showed my BFF and daughter some photos from Joe's Crab Shack they immediately wanted some seafood.

My Joe's is located in a busy strip mall on route 3 in Clifton Just across the Passaic River from my home in Rutherford. Joe's has outdoor seating in addition to the indoor tables.  When I went the patrons were basically either families or group of young people.

They have no online order system so when I walked in I told the receptionist that I wanted takeout and she directed me to counter right in front where I submitted my order. Which was for the King Crab Buckets of Crab with regular seasoning, the Orleans Steam pot and some Crispy Calamari.

I was not sure if I wanted anything from Joe's since I got spoiled by going to City Island in the Bronx and having seafood by the sea, or is that the East River ? Anyway the servings sizes looked big and I could just taste test for now from what they got. My total was a little $70 for a two person meal which took like 10 minutes to get.

Calamari was not real crispy but it was OK. Both the bucket and steam pot come with a corn on the cob and potatoes. For the bucket the King Crab legs where plain and did nothing special to me, And the same for the corn and potatoes.

The steam pot had craw fish, shrimps, and a large sausage. I took one craw fish ripped the head off and got to the meat and I did not really like the taste. But I'm not into craw fish, so maybe you would actually like it.

I also had to de-shell the shrimp and rip the little feet off. Now I know some families just love sitting around a table and doing just that all night long together but that not me. And to top it off I  did not like the flavor of the shrimp.  It was marinated with Cajun but after you peeled the shell, the shrimp were just tasteless shrimp. The corn on the cob was Cajun seasoned also on one side.

so I'm thinking that Joe's has these giant steam pot where everything is made with little or no seasoning and that is why I was not won over with there food I didn't find anything special at Joe's I would not go to Joe's for myself but if I am with others I would try and eat the minimum I can without making a big deal of it..

Enjoyed my first time at Joe's as it was highly recommended.  Good service.  I don't care much for fried anything, but the cream cheese/jalapeno/crab balls or whatever they were, were good as was the Redfish with creamy lobster sauce. A cup of lobster bisque, on the other hand, was mediocre at best. Disappointed there was no clams or oysters on the menu.
