Straightforward as a burger place can get. Menu has 5 burger options, a couple of specials, and fries. Came here Friday late afternoon with plenty of seating available and a large draft/bottle list to go through.
Ordered a cheeseburger ($13), sloppy Joe's fries to share ($14), and a beer ($6). Burger is cooked as I asked, juicy and pink on the inside. bread to burger ratio isn't bad, though I wish there was more cheese to balance out the meat. Dish is served with some sliced up pickles for a little variation. Fries are smothered in the sloppy joe – though wish the sauce was spicer, needed to add some hot sauce for that kick.
Service here is solid; waitress went through the menu for us and the drink specials. Solid place for an in and out sitdown meal or just for the booze.
Great happy hour specials…beer for $4 in NY? Yes please!
Joe's is a very casual place to grab a burger and beer and very affordable too. My burger was a bit on the dry side and probably could've used more seasoning, but good portion. Great service since we came early and the place was empty. Would I rush to come back here? No…but it's an option.
$11 for a burger the magnitude of what they're dishing up at Joe's is remarkable.
Joe's is a little slice of downtown in the Upper West Side. Started by alums from Stanton Social, it's just what this neighborhood needed (something that's not a terrible college bar). With a sophisticated bar program and one hell of a Schweid & Sons beef burger, it's a special place that you need to check out if you live or work in the area.
Came here based on Yelp reviews. We were looking for a good burger place on the UWS and this place definitely had it! We wish every restaurant stuck to a few deliciously made items instead of pages and pages of bland food. The fries were even divine. Let me get back to the burger, it was so good. Also, it was the juiciest burger I have probably ever had and…..I get my burgers well done!
Service was just as good as the food. Server was from South Carolina and definitely brought her southern hospitality up to NYC.
Stopped by here while waiting for a dinner reservation. We were seating just in time before the happy hour ends at 7 pm. They have a great draft list which is everything to me. The service was good, and the drinks are fairly priced. A great place to grab a drink and try new beers.
Corner spot restaurant, great beer selection and the hamburgers!! Oh my! DELISH! Here ya go!
Hot dang, even though I have been here a few times now I'm finally writing a review for Joe's. What the heck is wrong with me? This is one of the best spots on the UWS to chill out at!
Tasty burgers. Even though I am no longer eating red meat I can still rave about the juicy goodness of their cheeseburgers here. Oh, and the bowl of fries is damn skippy too!
Great music – old school 70's rock & roll, hip hop, and rap classics playing at any time.
Eclectic beer list. More than enough of a selection on tap, in cans, and bottles. Sierra Nevada, Founders, Dogfish, Left Hand, Ballast Point, Evil Twin, Troegs, Victory, Ballast Point, etc.
House cocktail list. With concoctions such as the Sex Machine, Night Fever, Scooby Snack, and Flash Gordon's Breakfast you can't go wrong. Then again, just have a Burt Reynolds and all will be ok with the world ( a beer and a shot of whiskey).
Friendly staff and bartenders. From the bouncer/manager to the bar staff they are all pretty cool.
Terrific vibe. Long bar with plenty of stools, comfy bench seating and tables. Nice decor.
Kitchen open late. Yeah, because sometimes after a late night out partying you just need a good burger. Small menu though. The times I have been here we have rolled in after midnight. Food! Boom!
Prices are ok but for what they do charge for a burger you would think a side of fries would accompany it. Charging for both separately gets a bit costly. At least they do offer a happy hour here too.
Can't ask for much more than that. If you want to avoid the fratty crowds that pack into the beer swilling bars up in this part of town, and want a more mature laid back place to spend a few hours or more in a cozy atmosphere, then saunter up alongside Joe's and let him take you on a magic carpet ride.
I mean, we live just across the street and this place has a cracking atmosphere, with gorgeous comfy red booths but it's casual so there is no stuffiness, and a fantastic burger. They have a great patio for warmer weather and a cute, cozy interior for chillier months. To me, it's the perfect restaurant, the kind of place where you can have a great dinner then stay put all night. This place is going to be dangerous for us, already looking forward to our next visit.
