Ah-mazing pizza. Believe the hype!
Lovely location across the street from the park in the village. This place is always bustling but they do not compromise the pizza regardless of their volume. Sure, the slice is a little pricey (I think?) but it's sure worth every penny.
Grab a slice and sit outside at the park. No disappointments.
Quick, delicious NY slice! I normally get a plain Jane cheese slice whenever I try a new pizza joint in the city so that's just what I did here. The dough had a good bite, was slightly chewy, the way I like it. The sauce had a nice tang and cheese just the right amount of stretch.
Celebrity pics on the walls… So many pics on the walls of all pizza joints in the city. Is this a thing?!
Same drill as everywhere else in the city. Hop on line, order and wait for your slice to be warmed up. That first bite is always heaven, isn't it?! Dang~ now I want pizza! Enjoy 😀
YES YES YES!
Last time I came to New York back in April, I walked by Justino's in uptown and striked gold with their delicious plain slices. I've been looking for something similar to that since and unfortunately did not find that at the famous Bleecker Street pizza. I thought their Nonna Maria was alright, wasn't really impressed.
However, a bite into Joe's cheese pizza brought flooding memories of that bite I had at Justino's. I was so happy. For $2.75, you don't need something fancy, just get the plain slice! The crust is my favorite part. It's the perrrrrfect amount of chewy and ugh I'm so happy.
Also looking at the reviews since it's open late, I'll definitely be coming back for a late night drunchies snack.
Thank you, thank you Joe's.
I could not wait to try the famous joe pizza!
The slices were fresh and tasty although it was very simple. The pizza just came out of the oven when we got it so it was perfect!
Loved the atmosphere!
For all the hype in the world that this place gets, I did not feel the triangler love oozing out of the pizza!
Its suppose to be one of the finest thin crust slices in New York, that's according to many lists. I get it, Nobody comes Here for gourmet pizza, or for something really extravagant, and for good reason, because it's not known for that… It's known for the best street, by the slice, simple, new York style pizza!
So I thought I can't go wrong with a simple slice here… But I was wrong!
The dough was below average, the toppings were bland, and the crust was Forgettable… (To be honest, one bite in the middle of the pizza had a little bit of taste)
To tell out of town'ers, or foodies that this is the best pizza in town is simply not right. if they want to get the "Joe's pizza" experience, they should just walk down any street in the city, and find a local pizzeria, that has been serving pizza from who knows when, or just stop by at the many dollar pizzarias and grab a slice…
Please, please for the love of pizza, go somewhere else! I don't want you to have the wrong impression about the new york pizza scene, this place does not represent what good pizza is, especially not the new york thin crust style.
I'm by no means claiming that it wasn't a great pizza joint ones, all I am saying is that you shouldn't judge a food joint based on its rich history, or on an a dish they invented years ago, a restaurant is not a museum, they are there for one reason and one reason only, and that is to serve you food, Preferably good food…
Ps.
The following rant is about these lists ranking pizza places in new York…
My philosophy on pizza is very plural, the more the better! I don't think authenticity should win over taste, or longevity over experimental… just because you have been around longer, or your pizza is more authentic, doesn't mean you should dominate lists, Especially when the market has so much more to offer… You are depriving all of us!
On two recent lists published online, four out of ten on that list were big no-no's, one of them was Joe's pizza, the only reason why they were on it, was because of their history and what not… I can guarantee you that Almost any dollar slice will beat these four in a pizza competition… I simply don't get it, It's new York for **** sake! We are blessed with so many options, and even if you are not happy with the current options, there will always be a new pizza place opening up down the block. so why not diversify these lists?? And why is Joe's on these lists??
An excellent, easy, quick NY thin cheese slice. You can't go wrong. Especially when you are hungry and time-crunched.
Now, for the price and easy of obtaining a slice, I'd put this as a top *plain* cheese slice. When it comes to a Margherita slice – Not Ray's and even NY Pizza Suprema outshine Joe's in the cheap, quick, high-quality NY pizza realm.
Of course, as I say all the time… This spot Does. Not. Hold. A. Candle. to DiFara's plain cheese pie… But the opportunity cost of this quick slice vs the trek to Midwood, the wait… etc… DiFara is admittedly an experience and just a whole other class and stratosphere when it comes to NY pizza.

Joe's easily offers up one of the better New York style slices in town. Crust, sauce, and ratios are all very good. I prefer the regular over the fresh mozzarella given how thin the slice of fresh is, but to each their own. There can be a bit of a line during prime lunch hours, and you may have to wait for a pie to come out after you order.
I remember when Joe's was on the corner of Bleecker and Carmine. But they lost their lease and another pizzeria opened in it's place. They did not survive and the pizzeria was replaced with the gelato shop Grom (read my review).
Well Joe did not take long returning to Carmine St. They reopened at 7 Carmine, still a small space but big enough to make some of the best pizza in NYC. I always walked by Joe's but never stopped in for a slice until yesterday.
I must say this is one of the best slices of pizza I've had to date. Crispy on the bottom with a little char. Sauce not too sweet and really good cheese. The crust also had just the right amount of "tooth" to it.
It's standing room only at Joe's but you won't be their long. My slice disappeared in a matter of moments and I went back for another. If you find yourself on Bleecker and Carmine stop in for a slice. You'll be glad you did.
