Let me first explain my 5 star review. This is not a high end bar, or trendy. This is a dive bar but definitely appears nicer on the inside than the outside. By the exterior, I would have been a little
Nervous to come in.
The owner was actually on site, they have free food for half the game on Mondays and 2 dollar PBRs. I didn't drink the PBR or eat the free food but I did sample the dumplings and had the pork and onion platter with the secret sauce. That sauce was pretty awesome. It has some spice but not too much to handle for a weak sauce like me!
I came here after having a work thing in the area and was glad I did.
They have several dart boards and its a very large space.
For a diver bar, I would definitely consider it high end. But there was no scene to speak of though so come with a friend or two . Definitely isn't a pick up scene.
Went to go hangout with my friends for a UYE for a fun filled Monday of booze and food, which turned out to be an awesome night. THANKS MARQUIS!!! Unfortunately, I missed happy hour but my early bird friends ordered just in time. I was so happy to arrive and see wings, nachos and sliders on the table..all i could think was get in my belly.
Honestly, when I was driving up I was wondering what the inside would like because it looks out of date, but don't be fooled. The inside is huge with alot of open space, seating and huge bar. Also, alot of parking in the back of Pub. The place is great for groups. They have darts and a cool jukebox that plays all music from latest to past and we were getting our 90's and 80's throwbacks in!!! THANKS DEX!
The food was so good!! The chicken wings were crispy and crunchy just the way I like them. The buffalo flavored ones are my favorite with a nice twangy twang twang!! The thai chili wings are awesome as well, but I little spicy for me considering I can't really tolerate spicy food, but thats neither here nor there. The sliders were nice and juicy and simple. A few people ordered dumplings and a beef stir fry which looked and smelled amazing but I didn't get a chance to eat because a sista was full.
The most important part were the drinks and I had a few margaritas. Now I take my margaritas very seriously and these were on point. Not too much and not too little of anything. Those drinks hit the spot after a long day at work. Also the shots of Joey Juice was nice and sweet…Thanks Joey!!!
Batender Nicole was awesome and attentive. All the staff was great and the tall guy who was bartending was cool too (sorry, if forgot his name). Met the owner Joey and he showed me how to play darts which was cool.
This place is affordable, fun, and spacious! Love this place and plan on returning soon and I mean very soon. Thanks Marquis for a great time!!!! #TeamPhoenix
Let me get down to business. What's more fun than sitting at home watching T.V. and eating a pint of Talenti gelato sea salt caramel flavor? Well nothing of course! Unless you're at an awesome bar chillin with some cool peeps at a UYE that my boy Marquis C. has put together, then we're talking. I was so excited to head up to this place and try what they have to offer. Marquis had been saying how sick this place was and I knew I had to witness it myself. So may I say he is absolutely right! As a local watering hole the place is bright with plenty of T.V.'s to satisfy your viewing pleasure. Plus dart boards abound if you wanna get your flying mini-arrows going. It is spacious and the waitresses and bartenders are super friendly. I got the meet the owner, Joey himself and couldn't believe that we got some six degrees of separation thing going on. Man it's a small world after all. Shout out to Steph and Nicole who were awesome bartender and waitress respectively.
Let's get to the food goodies now shall we. Happy hour starts from 3pm and ends at 7pm with $5 apps to fill your gastronomic needs. We ordered nachos, sliders, and their chicken wings. The nachos were loaded with chili, cheddar and jack cheese, avocado, and sour crème. That, ladies and gentleman, is the quintessential stoner food. What else can you say about a nacho that does it well? I am truly in love! But wait my love affair doesn't end with the nacho. Let's talk about my mistress the sliders. Bite size deliciousness topped with cheddar cheese steals my heart any day of the week, especially Monday. Perfectly cooked and downright addicting. But alas there was something more addicting than even that. Joey's chicken wings are what I would consider a booty-call. I would hit those wings up when the feeling is right but can't maintain a steady relationship because it will kill you! The Korean style sauce for the chicken has the right amount of flavor and spice to give it that unique zing. The wings were also cooked perfectly and ranks up there with my all-time places for great chicken wings. But alas as Fred L. said #ThaiChiliThoo is off the chainz…2 Chainz! Seriously this flavor is beyond me. There's gotta be some serious magic going on with that sauce 'cause Ima let that ish drip all over me so I can lick it off clean! Seriously delicious can't even begin to describe it. The only way is what I said before. It's a booty-call. It's forbidden but when you have it you know it's what you want. But then afterwards you feel guilty and have to take a shower. Damn you Thai chili, you made me cheat on my gelato! Oh well all I can do now is get in the shower and try to forget it all by tomorrow. Hmmm good luck with that one…
Coming from NY the prices here is great. We came here because there was a 2 hour wait at the guns for hire next door so we came to watch the game.
Food is pretty good. The hot dog is a must try.
Staff is friendly.
Dartboards and TVs everywhere
Great wings and dumplings! Awesome drink specials! Love the bartenders Nicole and Nicole! Will be back in the near future for more!
I went here to meet some people this past friday. The place is not what I was expecting but not in a bad way. Looks similar to a renovated American Legion hall in the town I grew up in. There were ample dart boards to play darts, and tv's around for those of you interested in a special sporting events they may be showing. The place is large in space for a local town bar. The drinks were a little weak in regards to vodka mixes. However, the service was decent as far as the response time from my order and the bartenders getting my drink. The crowd wasn't bad. I'll probably give this place another shot or two. Nothing bad about it really just didn't blow me away this time around. In fairness I have not tried the food yet either. I anticipate a bump in this review at some point in the future.
Looking for a chill local bar that serves delicious food? Look no further…Joey McBrides it is! Came here on a Monday night for a UYE hosted by fellow yelper Marquis C. Thanks to him for hosting or I probably would have never thought to give this place a try! Can't wait for football season to come back because this place has a ton of tv's and awesome wings with a crunch! I also got to try the dumplings, which are a total must have. Do not leave until you order a dish of these! Also you can't go wrong with the nachos for an app. I like when every chip is covered and these were. As for my dinner, I tried the Korean beef over rice. And yes I was thinking the same thing you are, who orders this at a bar?? But I did and it was delicious. Thanks Fred L for the suggestion! We got to meet the owner, he was very friendly and welcoming as was the rest of the staff. Food prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to come back here!! Next up I'm challenging my fellow Yelpers for a match of darts on one of their many dart boards. Game on!!
Stopped in last night for dinner and some college basketball. I've driven past it several times, but finally got the opportunity to check it out for myself. My husband was here for happy hour once before and raved about the dumplings, so I joined him and a few of our co-workers last night and I'm glad I did.
The bartender (I don't know his name, sorry!) was really friendly and provided us great service. He was very attentive and provided us with some food suggestions too. He put the volume on for the BBall game the guys were watching, which was definitely appreciated.
We all started with the dumplings. They had great flavor, although the sauce was a bit spicy for me. I don't have much tolerance for spice, but everyone else loved the sauce (and of course the dumplings too). I would definitely get them again on a future visit, but maybe use a little bit less sauce on mine the next time.
For dinner, I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich. It is served with Seasoned Wedge Fries. The pulled pork was delicious. It was so flavorful! I tend to like my French fries on the thinner side (more crispy), but these were good. I made the hubby eat the ones that were thicker. The hubby had the Korean Beef BBQ with Peppers & Onions served over rice with a side of "Joey" sauce. He loved the dish! One of my friends had the wings which looked really good, but Teriyaki sauce is not a choice. I would definitely try them if that were an option.
Pints of Yuengling, Coors Light, and PBR were on special for $1. Awesome deal. I don't know if that's just for Monday nights or what though.
Joey McBride's is a cool place with darts and a ton of TV's. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
