Stick to the large pizzas here. It's great that they're open so late, and while the menu seems to offer a wider range of choices, it's still a pizzeria at heart.
Their tomato sauce has the same issue it had in the past, and they still love to throw massive chunks of raw garlic into their sauces. But if I was rating them on their marinara alone they'd be getting three stars. It's not an entirely traditional marinara, a little closer to tomato in my opinion, but it was jam packed with garlic flavor. It smelled, and I'm sure I smelled afterwards, and it was totally worth it.
I'm pretty sure their fried shrimp and fried calamari are both pre-bought and frozen. The calamari has no legs (my favorite part!) and some of the pieces were fused together (a likely sign of freezer burn). This in itself isn't unforgivable, it's just a local place after all, but they do charge $15 for those fried shrimp- which are bone dry and taste oddly like chicken. It comes with salad, pasta, or fries, and the portions are generous but I would skip it.
I also ordered the house special personal pizza, which has sausage, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Like I said, it's a local place, so the toppings aren't the freshest. They went a little too light on the sauce, and for some reason the crust was really thick. I still like my pizza thin, even if it's a personal pie.
I love this pizza! I used to work in the area and would get it on a weekly basis- so when I get a chance to head over and grab a few slices- I go! I love the staff here- Mark is an absolute gentleman and stand up guy! The place is family owned and they know how to make really good food and run a professional business.
What makes their pizza different is the delicious sesame seed crust. So good! I also don't find their plain slices as greasy as most pizza places. My absolute favorite slice though is the bbq chicken! To die for haha that's exactly what I had this visit. Get a slice of that- you'll thank me lol
This place has been around for quite a while over in Maspeth I believe. Could be Middle Village lol I can't remember the cut off for the two neighborhoods. Anyway- go grab some slices from here if you're in the area! They are open til 1am too
Sesame seeds on their pie crust. Sure. Why not? I bet you you'll miss it when you get a slice somewhere else.
Great food when you're lazy to even wait for your Chinese food take out.
My girl and I were hungry and stumbled upon this place near where we live. The pizza was delicious. Their plain slice was really good. I loved the sauce and the crust. I tried the bbq chicken slice but wasn't a huge fan of that. I look forward to trying their buffalo chicken slice next time. I almost feel like I can eat an entire pie of plain pizza. =)
One of the many Pizza places in Maspeth, Joey's signature is sesame seeds on their pizza, and the addition is a welcome one. Decent selection of toppings, and their other food is pretty good. Location is good as well, except for having to compete with Rosa's right across the street, but their pizza is different enough to make them a separate stop.
Sesame seeds on the crust! You would think it's a small thing, but it makes a delicious difference. Also, unlike Rosa's across the street they deliver, and do so later than any of the other places I know around here (which might explain how I found them in the first place…).
Only thing is their other menu items kinda suck. Seriously, don't bother with anything other than the pizza.
I really did like the sesame crust but the pizza overall was smaller than I thought it would be. They were a little stingy on the cheese and sauce but its ok in a pinch. The man at the counter was really nice to me. I dont know if hes that nice to everyone.. or just me?
My sis kept babbling about this place all weekend until we gave in and decided to go for Pizza in Maspeth, boy was that the best decision ever!
Upon walking in, you feel at ease – with it's old fashioned red wooden one piece chairs and booths and friendly Staff.
Sesame! Almost all crusts are lined with toasted sesame seeds, so good!
I usually throw my crusts away, but not here! The aromatic toasted sesame is not to be ignored!
In order of yum – We split each slice into 2-4 pieces to try them all!
Honey Mustard Chicken: My favorite! It has a hearty dijon taste which makes you feel like saying Mmm. Looks eh, tastes Mmm!
BBQ Chicken: Very good, pretty sweet. It's BBQ sauce, how can you go wrong?
Veggie Slice: All the usual veggies and Surprise! Eggplant Cutlet pieces! This totally sets it apart from the usual Veggie Slice. It's loaded full of veggies but the crust is strong enough to handhold the slice. Awesome!
Margarita: WOW! Delicious!
Chicken Parm: Just like a sandwich! Really good!
Sausage: Mmmm!
Sicilian Plain: Delicious!
Grandma Sicilian: Typical. Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil. Ok
White Pizza: Great if you love Ricotta!
Plain: Eh. Bit salty. My mom's fav.
Hawaiian: Not as sweet and juicy as normal
I would most definitely take my friends here and drive all the way out here for a slice of pizza anytime. It's my new go-to pizza place!
Giovanni and Jose are AWESOME! Hope you get to meet them!
