– I was in and out of there in less than a half hour

– Typical breakfast, nothing special
Found this spot on a whim looking for breakfast and I'm glad I did!
Small spot, sit wherever you please and service is fast and efficient. We ordered and about 6 minutes later our food was on the table. We ordered the standard eggs, potatoes, toast, and pancakes. We really loved our breakfast! It was hot, fresh, and tasty. Potatoes were really delicious. Pancakes were subpar for my pancake tastebuds but that doesn't stop me from giving them five stars.
Great prices for great food! Overall it was a great experience and we will be returning here in the future.
I had a science teacher in middle school who was an enthusiast about the history of diners in American culture, having visiting hundreds in New England alone. I won't claim to be quite on his level, but I do feel a certain pull towards simple fare served in unassuming spaces. Yeah sure, I love some crazy riff on eggs benedict using chorizo and cornbread or whatever, but sometimes less is more.
This place exemplifies that. Often I'm there alone so I'll just sit at the counter, watching expertly-griddled eggs and pancakes sizzle next to a mountain of potatoes that gets gradually portioned into home fries. If it's lunchtime, a triple-decker sandwich sliced into triangular quarters and some crispy fries hit the spot. The service is pretty quick although they're sometimes a little busy. and the decor is about as generic as it gets, but that's why you should come. Seinfeld could just as easily have filmed this place for their diner archetype, because it's a perfect slice of classic American life. This is food, not cuisine, and sometimes that's what we all need.
I got the weirdest omelette I've ever eaten. I ordered the goat cheese and peppers but I've never had dry goat cheese? The eggs were brown which meant they were pretty overcooked. The coffee wasn't so great either. My boyfriend liked his better. He had the pancakes and fruit. Both of which were good. I like the other diners in the area better.
You get exactly what you'd expect from a diner at John's, which is what everyone who goes there is looking for. The decor is dated, the tables are cramped, and the bathroom is tiny but the food is good and the service is quick. My favorite is the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and at just a few bucks, it's a good deal. I came on a very rainy Sunday morning and there was a already a line of people waiting for a table, so it's obviously a popular spot in the neighborhood!
I live right around the corner. This is my Sunday hangover spot. I order the same thing every time: tomato basil goat cheese omelette and a cappuccino (the caps here are of great quality). Simple quick eat.
Very good on the simple stuff diners are made of and friendly staff who want to see you happy. Good choice for a simple breakfast and a cup of joe. Neighborhood feel. Probably gets busy during the workweek. Back to the basics.
This is a nice little spot, with an extensive diner menu. There's something for everyone, which makes it great for smaller groups. I haven't yet had to wait when going in a pair or group of 4.
A friend loves that they have bottomless decaf coffee; she says it's not super easy to find, so I thought I would make a note of it.
All in all, pleasant service with a quick turnaround for the lunch crowd. Uses Square and takes credit cards with nary any issue to split a bill multiple ways.
