The best Korean BBQ currently. Ambience is amazing you feel like you are in Korea. It's super busy so go early put your name down and roam the streets for a bar (FYI: ton of rooftop bars nearby like refinery rooftop, spyglass, up on 20 etc Yelp it haha) food is amazing get everything and anything. I have yet to be disappointed … With the food anyway.
Service on the other hand…. Well like I said the place is busy, always packed and I'm sure the staff is overworked. They BBQ for you like most BBQ places and sometimes I feel a bit rushed to eat. Understandable because it's always busy but still I don't like the feeling of being rushed to eat, hence lack of that last star BUT I still try to take my time and they might hate me for lingering but eh I don't care I wanna enjoy my meal 🙂
Perfect for a birthday dinner with friends! This place gets high marks all around.
Service – Hostess was super accommodating. I made a reservation for 6 but we ended up having 7 people. I thought we'd have to wait awhile for another table because it was pretty busy on a Saturday night, but I let the hostess know it was my friend's birthday and she made sure we didn't have to wait. Awesome service. The waiter was also very attentive and always had a smile on his face ^_^.
Appetizers – Seafood pancake and kimchi pancake are the way to go.
Steamed egg – Great comfort food.
BBQ – Ordered the group beef platter which came with prime ribeye, kalbi, thin skirt steak, and marinated beef. On top of that, we ordered a side of beef tongue and pork jowls. This place is like carnivore heaven. Everything was fresh, and grilled to perfection.
We'll definitely be back.
First time having korean bbq! It was fantastic!! We had the beef platter and pork belly which were both really good. I would even say that the meat cuts were **PREMIUM**!! Jokes aside, the service was great (they cook and serve the meat for ya!!) and the banchan was also really tasty (not bland at all). It was a nice complement to the meat dishes! Will definetly go back!
Great meat, super tender. Didn't get to try the marinated ones, but did get the beef platter. Only disappointing thing was the lack of side dishes (only mac salad, kimchi and onions). Everything else was good, though: tofu soup and steamed egg. Pretty good and not that expensive for KBBQ.
Come here for the lunch specials. The cold green tea noodles with gochuchang sauce and huge side of kalbi is delicious, flavorful, and so refreshing in the summer. Usually I stay away from the Korean BBQ joints when it's hot and humid outside but Jongro has high ceilings and the iconic vents that snake down and suck up all the smoke and heat. Since this place is on the 2nd floor, it seems to be much less crowded than across the street at Wonjo.
Solid Korean BBQ spot in K-Town. I was going to give this place 2 stars only but with the great service, it really deserves 4 stars!
FYI – this spot is located on the 2nd floor of an office building so it might be a bit hard/weird to find! Walked in with my friends on a Friday around 6:30 PM and we had to wait about 15 minutes. By the time we left (around 8:00 PM), this place was PACKED and the wait was around an hour to two hours!
My friends and I ordered the pork platter which was around $50 dollars – I must say this is pretty expensive for the quantity we got… (see pictures). We also got the seafood pancake and dubokki (rice cakes). The seafood pancake was solid and the rice cakes was beyond good – it was one of the best I've ever had and it wasn't pricey either!
The service here is impeccable! The employee did a great job cooking our pork and came back constantly to check up on us! They really do work hard as I see lots of sweats dripping!! One of the things I really liked about this spot is that you leave the place NOT smelling the korean BBQ. They have this long suction pipe that sucks the smell out directly from the grill! The only thing I have to complain about this place would be the price and perhaps have a bigger selection of food.
During my first trip to NYC, this was the best food I've had my whole entire visit! It's a little hard to find in Koreatown but it is in a bank building. You have to take the elevator to the second floor. They have the whole entire floor as their restaurant. We were quickly greeted by very enthusiastic hosts to our table. Tables were nice and roomy. We got the marinated beef platter which was good for 2 people to get pretty full. It did not come with rice, but it did come with many amazing side dishes, egg, choice of soup, and lettuce. We chose the fermented tofu soup which was the best I've ever had. And I don't even like tofu! I've been searching for that soup when I came home but no where makes it even nearly as good. Our server cooked all of the meats for us to a perfect touch. Super tender and juicy. Usually at the kbbq places that I go to, I have to do all of the cooking so it's nice that they cook it in front of you for you! Everyone was so incredibly friendly. The service was fast. The restaurant was cute. Take me backkkkkk!
Jongro was located in the second floor of a building in Koreatown. I came away impressed by this place for several reasons. First, the service was great and people checked on us and happily refilled our banchan. Second, the prices are reasonable. Third, the quality of food is better than average. Lastly, unlike most kbbq places, the place doesn't smell of smoke and our clothes didn't smell like smoke after eating here.
