  1. It was quiet Night on a week night so we got a very nice table be were attended to promptly. The kitchen closes around 9 so we ordered some  great wine and chatted for a bit before ordering.

The grilled calamari special was shared amongst 4 and it was a small but delicious portion.  The salad was citrusy and really cleared the palate to taste the grill on the calamari.  Terrific

The pasta was the angel hair with calamari and shrimp and clams in deep red thick sauce.  Nice portion and pasta was cooked the right way with lots of the calamari and shrimp

    Will return

  2. I've been feeling like Goldilocks these days. Except instead of trying out porridges and chairs and beds, I've been trying every Penne ala Vodka dish in town. Over and over and one by one. None of them had been "just right".

I tried so many bland and sucky Penne ala Vodkas in the area that I knew exactly how Goldilocks felt and had almost given up with a loud, "Hmphhh!" I was just about ready to come to terms with the fact that I was living in fantasyland thinking that there was going to be such a thing as a flavorful Penne ala Vodka in the FiDi, South Street Seaport, or Battery Park areas. But then I read the review from Melissa S. on Yelp and she inspired me to give it one last shot.

Joseph's Ristorante didn't have Penne ala Vodka on the menu but they did have Rigatoni ala Vodka which is the same dish, different noodle. And they do have penne so I'm certain you can substitute the rigatoni for penne if you so desire.

Anyway, OMG it was so good! It had kick to it too. Spicy! It actually woke my taste buds up and had just the oomph I craved. Next time I'm adding a little prosciutto to it. I can hardly wait!

So the moral of the story is to be patient and you'll eventually find the place that is "just right" in the end. This is going to be my new guilty pleasure. Thank you Joseph's! I'll live happily ever after from now on. 🙂

  3. An intimate Italian experience with good food, great service, and a wonderful ambiance.

I was here for a work lunch and the restaurant catered very well to our large group and the various food allergies that those at the table had.  All of the servers knew the menu well and provide good recommendations.  Drinks remained full with the attentive service.

For lunch, I had the lobster and crab salad.  It was exceptional with generous portions of seafood, avocado, and garlic.  I'd recommend as an appetizer or as a lunch entree.

Typically, I avoid Italian restaurants due to being gluten free, but Joseph's provided a comfortable atmosphere and there are enough menu items that are made without gluten to meet the requirements of the diet.

If you have a problem with grabbing handfuls of after dinner mints, they have some huge bowls of them waiting for you.  Just don't spoil your lunch or dinner.

A positive dining experience with great service.

  4. I've only been here for work lunches, but it's always been very good and makes you feel like you have dropped back fifty years into something from a Rock Hudson movie, well, if Rock Hudson went to Italian restaurants in his movies. You need to carve out some time for the full lunch, but it's nice to step away occasionally and do this. Old-school and hearty pasta and finish up with a cappuccino.
