  1. Damn, I gotta say this is a solid spot for a good old burger.  It was a really good quality burger, can't even complain about the price.  I felt it was worth every penny.  I got a Midi size burger with the addition of some cheese and avocado.  On my specific burger, I probably had every single free additional item on that with some spicy mayo sauce.  They are going through some renovations but who cares.  I came in for a great quality burger.  I actually got recommended by this spot by a colleague and they were dead-on point about this place.  As odd as this sounds, it actually tasted quite healthy compared to some of these fugazi burger spots around here.  I'm only saying that based off of my personal digestive system so consider that.  But overall, highly recommend!!!

  2. The reviews are correct! Good burgers! I had a big, tasty, juicy, turkey burger for my lunch today. I was the first one there when they opened. I had the sweet potato fries too. The reviews were right about the sweet potatoes too. Someone said they were soggy. I also found them soggy with the exception of a few pieces. They also didn't have much taste as the typical sweet potato fries. I've had much better elsewhere.
They charge more for turkey burgers. It said 5 oz. I felt like it was 8-10 oz. So huge! They also make their money charging extra for avocado and cheese. I like the whole wheat bun at Joy Burger Bar. In the end I spent $14.42. I didn't have a drink.
Service was great. Everyone was very nice. they brought my food to the table and took away my tray of garbage when I was finished. So nice! There was a manager visible, cleaning was going on and an"A" for sanitation in the window! I like that!!
It is less expensive then going to BareBurger. I will try the beef burger next time.
They deliver. That might be handy if you work in the neighborhood. They had a pretty good crowd by the time I left. It's popular for the soft drinks and sauces too.
I noticed right away the TV's. Very nice touch with the sports on TV. The music was good too if you sit there for lunch. I was enjoying that. The TV's didn't have the sound on although people were watching at the next table. I guess you have to ask them to turn it up.
I'll go back and give it a try again next time I'm in the neighborhood.

  3. OK so this place is pretty much amazing.

I'm not going to go as far as saying the burgers in my old neighborhood were bad….but they weren't, well, very good (sorry Burgers Ur Way…). I was starving after moving heavy stuff up a few flights of stairs, and sure wasn't in the mood to go out.

    Enter Joy Burger.

We found the place on Seamless, and man am I happy we did; they have different size burgers (normal sized for my girlfriend, huge ones for fat, er, husky dudes like me), salads if you're in the mood to not die, and almost everything in between (in the mood for Schnitzel? they've got it). The wide varieties of toppings you can put on your burger are impressive; I personally recommend cheddar cheese, garlic mayo and bacon aioli (cheddar is 0.60, the rest are all free, score). Make sure you order a side of the fries, they are ridiculously good, as are the zucchini sticks (free side if you hit 30$ on Seamless, easy if there are three people). Honestly everything is super well made (and enjoyable) here, I can't wait to try some more of their stuff out.

Think we found our new go to burger joint in the neighborhood, follow up review will absolutely be on its way as soon as we get a chance to go in – this place is tasty so that wont't be far off I'm sure.

  4. I ordered a Munch (3 oz) burger with lettuce, tomato, cheddar, jalapeños and garlic mayo, and a side of fries. All for about $8. And it was mouthwatering! My burger was cooked medium-well and it was perfectly juicy, despite it being just 3 oz haha. The fries were crispy. My coworker and I came here right before the big lunch rush, so we had great seats by the window, which were open because it was super nice out. The lady at the register was really sweet and thoughtful, asking me if I wanted a cup of water, since I did not order a drink off their menu. We waited a bit for our food, but it was worth the wait.

  5. After seeing this place pop up on my grid, I decided to check it out for lunch. I had a Eat24 coupon, so I decided to order for pickup.

I decided to go with the maxi burger with grilled onions, lettuce, pickles, garlic mayo, and spicy mayo. While the burger was a good size and all the ingredients were delicious–especially the meat–the bun was wayyyyyy too big and wasn't grilled at all.

I also got a side of the sweet potato fries which I enjoyed, but opted for the spicy mayo, rather than the maple syrup it came with.

Overall, this place cranks out some good food for a pretty good price, but they really need to do something about those buns.

  6. Come here for the burgers and not the salad. My friends were very happy with their burgers, but I was a little disappointed with the avocado salad. It sounded great in principle, but it could have used more fresh ingredients. First of all, the salad was made of mixed greens. These were good and crisp, but there was a lot of water pooled in the bottom of the salad bowl. When I poured on the dressing and mixed it up, the dressing unfortunately became diluted and not as tasty. The salad was topped with avocado and tomatoes which were delicious and ripe, but the corn on the salad was not fresh. And there was a lot of it. It looked and tasted like it came out of a can. If you are charging me almost $10 for a salad, please give me fresh corn. The salad also came with roasted red peppers. Don't get me wrong, I usually like these, but it was another topping that came out of a can/jar. I rarely order salads when I'm out, but when I do, I expect them to have fresh veggies and make me feel healthy. This one unfortunately missed the mark. I did appreciate that they served the salad with a piece of warm baguette, though.

  7. After a day of museum hopping, I just wanted to sit down and eat. A quick yelp search and what do I find out? A burger place with my name in it? I must try. That's what came through my mind.
Once we found the location, it seemed pretty inconspicuous. I wouldn't have noticed it if I were just walking by. The sign needs a touch-up. Mainly, the J has disappeared.

    So we get a couple of burgers. They come in 3 sizes: Munch (3 oz. – $4.75), Midi (5 oz. – $6.25), Maxi (8 oz. – $7.75)
Toppings included are: lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapenos, pickle, tabasco, sauteed onions.
I got a Midi with Cheddar. I'm not big on toppings, so I got lettuce and tomatoes. I would have preferred if they didn't use shredded lettuce. Mr. Joy got a Maxi with Swiss. Both look like they were made with potato buns. The cheese was slightly melted. The buns were a little toasted. We ordered them medium rare and they were tasty and juicy. The burgers were overall satisfying and affordable.

We also got the Batatas – Sweet Potato Fries, which evidently are not fries. They were somewhat like sweet potato chips, but the center was still a little raw.

It seems like their big thing is their homemade sauces. The server listed quite a few. I've already forgotten all of them. I believe we got the Spicy Mango Chutney. It had a mild spicy aftertaste. I wasn't a big fan of the syrupy sweetness though. The lemonade didn't help, because it was sweet on sweet.

I mainly just liked the burger, its affordability, and the fact that they accept cards. Plus I thought it was cute that they give you a playing card to take to your table in place of a table number.

  8. Seriously the best burger joint I've been to in a while!

I must say the burgers here deserve a 5/5 no doubt. I came here with my boyfriend and we got the midi (medium) sized burger which contains a 5.oz patty for $5.95. You could choose from a variety of free toppings to add to your burger for example, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, sautéed onions and so much more. Also some free sauces to top your burger such as BBQ, honey mustard, mango chutney, pesto and my favorite spicy mayo and garlic mayo. For some extra cash you can even add bacon, turkey bacon and mushrooms. We both got our burger well done, and they were so juicy and filling! They add generous amounts of the toppings you choose from and you can definitely tell they make their burgers with love because they are bursting with flavor!

The only reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because the ambience isn't the greatest. It's pretty small and the chairs and tables are worn out. The atmosphere doesn't really look like a burger joint and was disappointing compared to the amazing food they serve.

However, I definitely recommend every burger lover to try this place out! And even if you aren't too fond of burgers, you might just fall in love once you try theirs!!
