Just an average dim sum place like Jin fong, or golden unicorn. We came on weekdays, and it's super cheap. We paid less than 10 for each person, usually it costs more than $20. I guess they have specials on weekdays. I came because of the piggy egg custard bun. Other items are pretty standard. They do have durians though and I also tried the green sticky sesame balls, tasting like 汤圆 tangyuan.
Awesome food here. The staff is very attentive and very friendly. They would come and change our plates every 10-20 minutes. We came here for a birthday dinner. We ordered all the traditional Chinese dishes that people usually order like ginger scallion lobster, sweet sour pork chops, walnut shrimp, some sauteed spinach and etc. The owner was very generous and gave us an extra dish of lobster, steamed oyster, and scallops. This is a pretty big restaurant and I do hope to come back for their piggy buns.
WOW! I remember coming here a lot when it was Harmony. They have really vamped up the space. It doesn't look anything like the old Harmony. They also have a big screen to project stuff!
We came for dinner, and the food was great. Not too oily, and very tasty. Even their Buddha's Delight, which is usually quite boring, was really good!
I hope there will be another dinner here!
Good place for dim sum. Super crowded as per usual for a dim sum place.
A-OK. I came in around 11:30am on a Saturday morning to grab a number for a table for 3. I waited about 20 minutes before they gave me a shared table with 5 other people – not unusual for dim sum.
I liked that they sat me even though my party wasn't all there. I also liked that they had my favorite tea mix – chrysanthemum with po-erh.
The food was pretty meh though – I feel like I've had better dim sum elsewhere. The piggy custard buns were the highlight and definitely the best part of the entire meal.
Joy Luck Palace is yet another dim sum restaurant that is just okay. There are tons of tables, with a dining room that seats well over 100 people at a time. However, do expect to share tables if you're in a small party. The dining room is bright and fluorescent with a huge screen at one end that shows ads and positive reviews for the restaurant.
There are plenty of dim sum carts and pushy ladies hawking their goods, so it should not take too long to eat up and fill up your card. However, on two occasions, we received food that was cold. The bao we received were pretty soggy, even if cute and piggy, and the custard on the inside was just not that good. The bao I would definitely recommend eating elsewhere. The cheung were good and on par, as well as the ha gao shrimp dumplings. There were many dishes that my grandmother just passed on, namely the fried foods and the stewed meats, as she has told me that they simply aren't good there. I will admit that the desserts here are better than golden unicorn with the exception of the pig shapped buns.
Service is good, with prompt plate clearing and tea refilling. We did not wait at 10 am on a Saturday, but I can't speak for later in the morning.
They are still doing work on the sidewalk outside, so some tables have very loud background noise. By the time you get halfway into the restaurant, you can't hear it anymore.
this review is for a wedding banquet, as a guest. the place definitely transformed since i've last visited as harmony palace. its brighter and a bit airier but something about it feels tacky, maybe the color of the lighting. the wedding menu consisted of lobster salad, crispy chicken, efu noodles, mock shark fin soup, geoduck?, jellyfish, taro and spare ribs, shrimp, crab, abalone, dried scallops, steamed fish, sticky rice dessert. overall the meal was fine, nothing stood out but nothing was bad. i've definitely had better versions of each dish elsewhere. the staff also doesn't portion the foods so we had to serve ourselves which is weird when you sit with people you don't know at weddings. also the servers didnt really take direction well – how do you serve crab without the tool to eat it with? we had them pack up everything that was leftover, and they definitely either sneakily ate or took a crab shell since it was missing in our to go boxes and obviously we didn't discover that until we got home! shady hungry staff!!!!
They have creative dimsum option, with cute faces on them
The shiu mai is the best thing here
do not order the rice wrapped with leaves, the rice was super soggy and was not good at all
very cheap place for dimsum, good for a group of people.
Food is a little below average
