  1. As someone who lived in Cajun country the past 4 years, I was pleasantly surprised to hear of Just Be Claws. I came here to try the po'boys and they didn't disappoint.

Get the Oyster or SoftShell crab to try something new – they were perfectly crunchy and cornmeal seasoned. I liked the dressing and it was perfectly stuffed full. Thank goodness they weren't skimpy as they are $12-15 each. PS a po'boy is like a sub, Cajun style.

My brother sampled the blue crab crab & crawfish boil and I tasted some and they were made well and served by the pound. They have a great selection of seafood choices and you can get them mild, medium, or hot! I was surprised to read online that the chefs aren't actually Cajun but Korean, because it's really hard to tell its not authentic Cajun. I give it my stamp of approval 😉 even though the boil tastes seasoned a bit different than Louisiana style it's still very tasty and hits the spot!

  2. My family and I have been dying to try this place out for a while and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious! I had the snow crab roll and my parents had the oyster roll and lobster roll. We also shared a pound of their shrimp. The rolls themselves were really good so I recommend any one of those if you ever visit. The shrimp was surprisingly tasty as well. My personal gripe with shrimp, in general, is the process of peeling. I've been to many places where it just wasn't worth the hassle of peeling (I know, I know, I'm being lazy). However, no only was the process worth it in JustBeclaws, it wasn't that hard to peel. The shell came off pretty easily and the JustBeclaws sauce amplified the taste a lot.

So, while I raved about the rolls and the shrimp, there's one last thing you must get if you ever stop in. You have to get their JustBeclaws Fries. It's what their famous for and was definitely the best part of the meal. Also, the staff was one of the friendliest I've experienced.

    My recommendation: Eat here.

  3. We came in around 7pm on a Saturday and only had to wait a few minutes for a table. I got the gumbo & crab fries — the fries were great, the gumbo was a little disappointing (light on the meat and seafood, small in size). My friends got crab legs and crawfish and were both really pleased. The plastic gloves and bibs are great. 🙂

We had to flag down our server for water refills and the check, but it was a busy night and they were apologetic.

I think we were the only table who hadn't brought beer or wine. Also, it's very kid-friendly! There were lots of people who had come in with kids, and even babies.

  4. We went with a bunch of people. Aside from snow crab (in their signature sauce with egg noodles and corn), we also had a lobster roll, lobster fries, and oysters. The crab itself was delicious. And I love how they give everyone the tools. The other crab boil place in Fort Lee – they run out and don't have scissors. The egg noodles are a good touch. The lobster roll was big and overflowing with meat. It's cooked with butter, Connecticut style. The oysters were fresh and a mix of sizes.

And gotta love that it's BYOB. Parking was a bit hard to find.

  5. This is my go-to place in JC when I am craving seafood.  I've tried a number of dishes here, see below for details, ranked from favorite to least favorite:

Snow Crab ($18/lb) – my favorite dish here, I've always get it with the just beclaws sauce and medium spicy. Out of the three crab legs, it is the cheapest and holds up well against the other two. One pound generally consists of three clusters, which is more than enough for one person.

King Crabs ($35/lb) – the most expensive seafood per pound, but it's worth the splurge once in awhile as they are super meaty and juicy. The only issue is that they tend to be hard to open and very tough to handle.

Wings ($8 for 6 pieces) – I personally love the buffalo ones, well seasoned and nicely cooked. However, the wings are not well cleaned at times, some have clumps of hair on them, which could be off putting

Fried Shrimp Basket ($9) – well-sized shrimps and the accompanied fries are absolutely delicious. However, the breading on the shrimps are not consistent and could be too heavy at times.

Shrimps – they tend to get too salty, not my favorite

Clams – admittedly, I only tried this dish once and there were far more shells than actual clams. They were also overlooked.

Pro tip: take out seafood (particularly the shrimps) from the sauce before you dig in, as they tend to get too salty and spicy if allowed to sit in the sauce for too long.

  6. I came by for the lobster roll and got it to go, so I can't speak to entire dining experience. Lobster rolls are always expensive and this was no exception, about $20. Unlike others I've had that have too much sauce, this just tasted like buttery lobster and toasted bread. Really solid lobster roll but a quick way to eat through $20.

I'm not a frequent visitor of JC, but if you go evening/weekends there's no meter paying, and you're better off grabbing any free parking spot you see when you are vaguely in the area because it seemed to get more congested towards this area. If you really like seafood I'd say this is a good place to go but depending on day/time I don't know if it's worth fighting looking for parking. It seems promising though.

  7. Can't say no to a seafood boil spot in JC.. I hold the view that it's kind of hard to mess up this type of food, but in any case, this will hit the spot when you're craving some crawfish or shrimp. The wait can be long on weekends, so be prepared for that. Egg noodles are a nice side option in place of rice, to sop up all that saucy goodness.

  8. Yes, yes and YES.

First off, it's BYOB which is fantastic. The space is nice and simple and well lit, nothing crazy. The menu is in a build-your-own format which is fun! And the seafood is SO fresh.

Tip: GET THE CRAB FRIES and get ready to get down and dirrrrty with your meal!
