  1. Unfortunately I am not skilled enough to build my own salad so I appreciate any place that has trained artisan chefs design my salads for me.

The people who work there are nice and occasionally give me free stuff like a piece of bread to go with my salad (yay carbs, score!)

And I never have to wait too long.

  2. Good grub lives here.

I don't think Just Salad is quite as good as Chop't, and it's definitely a few steps behind Sweet Green (my personal favorite), but if the location is right…go for it.

I got the Smokehouse Steak salad with chilled avocado dressing — really glad they put the calories on the menu because why would I want to waste 200 calories on a dressing? — and it was pretty delicious. It's a really fast-paced environment and it's super loud, but other that that, I like Just Salad. I think I'll go back if I'm in the vicinity of one and in the mood for salad.

    Overall: yum.

  3. Upon moving to NYC, I had a few "irrational worries." One of which was that I wouldn't find a great, cheap salad near my apartment. I practically live off salad, kind of like a guinea pig.

Thank God I found Just Salad. It is amazing! And, if you're a salad lover like me, it's Heaven on Earth. There are so many options! I wasn't in the mood to think, so I got the Thai. But, if you like creating your own salads, you can do that too! In fact, Just Salad is the closest you'll come to a "make your own" salad without doing any of the work.

The Thai salad was delicious and I also liked that they gave you a little piece of bread (I'll reiterate what another reviewer said — yay, carbs!) The salad, itself, is also a bang for your buck — it's huge!

I found everyone who worked there to be really nice and welcoming. And, they did their job well, which is really what counts.

All in all, I'll definitely be back to Just Salad!

  4. The world's rudest people gathered and started working here. If you need a lesson on how not to work in anything service-relate, come on down!!!

The girl working the line barked at me to see if I wanted my salad chopped or tossed. Seeing as it was my first time, I told her I didn't know the difference. She kept saying CHOPPED OR TOSSED louder and louder.

The girl working the register at 9:50pm specifically is rude.

Shoutout to the man working the chopper and dressing. He was nice. Everyone else can take a hint.

  5. Just Salad is great.

You can get a custom salad and calculate the nutritional information on their website, which is very useful. I've found that their quality has improved in the last year, they used to have limpid lettuce and vegetables but they taste much fresher. And I really like their tandoori chicken. A nice spot to stop for a quick lunch.

  6. You have to love places like this which give you a truly mixed salad alternative.  Unfortunately most places where you order a salad tend to give you a bunch of greens with stuff piled on top…. Just Salad assures you a truly mixed effort where everything is mixed together and the best part is that the possibilities are limitless as to what the salad will entail.

My personal favorite is the spinach (not chopped) with turkey, banana peppers, parmesan cheese, olives and mushrooms.  Add the low fat horseradish chive dressing on top  and you've got yourself an amazing lunch.

The staff at this location is great, friendly and quick.

If anything is an issue here, it's the fact that the place fills up rather easily and it can often be difficult to find a place to sit.  Since we are just talking salads however, if you are patient enough a seat should open up soon enough.  And, since this is Just Salad – you can always take it to go if you would like.

I love Just Salad and I'll definitely be back again!!!

  7. The name is misleading. They don't just have salad. They also have sandwiches/wraps and smoothies. Regardless, I'm a regular at Just Salad because it's close to work/home and because it is an efficient meal-obtaining experience and the taste and quality are consistent each time. Be warned that lunch rush hour can be killer. I feel they do the best they can, and they've optimized the assembly line to speed up the process.

I usually get the California salad, and if I'm in a mood to treat myself, I also pick an overpriced bottle of juice from the deli fridge.

I suppose the price is a bit high for just salad (pun intended), but I know what I'm getting myself into. Plus, they do participate in LevelUp, the smartphone pay app for restaurants, so you can actually accrue points to get discounts off your meals if you come here frequently enough.

  8. My first "salad" joint in NYC. Very assembly-line structure to make the lines go fast, and they hand you a piece of paper where you get to circle what you want, and then you just hand that to the salad maker. I got the chipotle chicken salad–tender pieces of chicken breast with chewy pepper jack cheese cubes and almost half an avocado. Try it with their suggested chipotle vinaigrette dressing, altho something spicier would have been better. It's fun to watch them chop up your salad with those giant choppers. Price is on the pricier side but they give you a big portion (comes w/ a free piece of bread) and there are perks too, like save your bowl to get $1 off next time, sign up for their app to get a $3 credit, etc.
