  1. Finally, I was able to grab lunch here considering I work a block away.

They are well known for their salad in FIDI and you can tell by the length of the line during lunch.

They are located by the Dunkin Donuts on broad street and can be easily missed if you don't pay attention to the sign.

However, the inside is quite big with enough seatings and its relatively on the hip side.

I'm now a loyal and dedicated buffalo salad eater.

They are quite affordable for the location and their salad is filling for sure.

  2. I am a fan of Just Salad. The salad ordered recently was super fresh and really delicious. It had crisp lettuce, feta cheese, tandoori chicken, cucumber yogurt dressing, and probably other stuff as well.Everything in it complemented the other stuff perfectly and as a bonus, it was fairly healthy and quite filling. I will definitely be back to try more stuff. If you get one of their reusable bowls ($1), you get free toppings which is a nice plus and they also accept Level Up ($3 off your first visit and probably more rewards if you spend a certain amount). This is a great healthy option for lunch and dinner, and although there is sometimes a line, it moves quickly.

  3. {3.5ish}

Last time I went to a Just Salad I didn't have a great experience.  Granted, that location had just opened up and I'm sure there were kinks to work out… but I just didn't love my salad.  Fast forward a couple years and here I am trying it again, just in a different location.

I stopped by yesterday just before 2 expecting a long line and found everybody to be moving quickly and smoothly.  This place is realllly efficient!   There are essentially 5 different parts to the ordering process.  Don't get freaked out – it's actually really easy.  1) To start off a Just Salad staffer (let's call them JSS from here on out?) takes your order before you even get to the counter and includes your name on the ticket (this is a big deal).  2) JSS #2 calls out your name to confirm that staffer #1 got your order correct and then proceeds to fill up the bowl with ingredients, he/she places the bowl on the back counter.  3) JSS #3 then calls out your name (better pay attention) and tells you which 'station' you're salad is being moved to.  4) Let the chopping begin!  JSS #4 will chop up your lettuce as much or as little as you'd like.  5) JSS #5 takes your ticket and salad bowl (or wrap) and the checkout process begins.  See, easy!

A few things to note –

The Chicken Caesar is a quality salad.  I swapped out regular chicken for buffalo and it kicked it up a notch.  The shaved parmesan was great too.

Extra toppings are 59cents extra, but so is a small container of 'extra dressing'.  If you want it on the side – no problem.  But if you want a splash in the bowl and then a splash on the side then expect to pay a little extra.  I know I'm nit-picking here and its only 59cents but it's annoying.  Especially when I didn't even love the dressing.

The Caesar dressing was unusually thick and goopy.  Once tossed into the salad it was just fine but in all my years of Caesar salads I've never seen a dressing quite like this.  Bah.  I didn't love it, luckily they have like 15 others to try.

The rosemary bread slice they give you with a salad is nothing to get excited about.  Mine had some nice rosemary flavor but was hard.

If you know you're going to be a regular at Just Salad then you should definitely look into picking up a re-usable bowl for $1.  Apparently if you buy one and then bring it back you can get two free bonus toppings from the essentials list (ie. cucumbers, black beans, hardboiled egg, almonds, etc. etc.  The essentials list is actually quite extensive).

And lastly – I've got to tell all you Yelpers out there, that I really appreciated that Just Salad used my name.  The chopper asked "what kind of dressing today, Alyssa?"  And the cashier said "Have a great afternoon, Alyssa."  It keeps things organized and is just really nice and will be one thing that gets me back in the door at some point in the near future

  4. "Smoothie happy hour"
Happy in the sense that it's a joke of a smoothie. I saw the woman putting in 2 leaves of kale, half an apple, a slice of pineapple and 3 cups of ice into the blender. You can imagine the result.

  5. They put soooooo much balsamic vinegar and oil into my salad — it was overly dressed. Ingredients were great – olives, sundried tomatoes, cheese all were fresh and tasty! Price was okay for the portion of salad and quality.

  6. I always think long and hard before giving 2 stars because it seems like such a low rating, but to be quite frank- Just Salad is Just Meh.  I've experienced way better salad spots for lunch (Sweetgreen and Chop't), both of which are just a few blocks away.  Points given for the very clean (and new) location as well as the friendly and helpful staff; however, points taketh away for the lack of a wide array of flavorful ingredients and dressings.

I chose to build my own salad which is what I always do when im deciding to spend around $10 on lunch.  Custom salads and wraps include a choice of a green and 4 "Essentials".   Chicken, Shrimp, Steak, Cheese, and "Premium" additions all cost more money.  Compared to the usual custom crafts I create every week at other salad places, this was pretty disappointing.  My salad was made of Kale, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, jalapenos, roasted tomatoes (premium) and Tandoori Red Hot Chicken.  The Roasted Tomatoes and Tandoori Chicken cost more to add, and were both very bland.  The Chicken is supposed to be spicy, but it actually didn't have the least bit of heat.

The Original dressings all sound exotic and awesome, but they are just weak.  I tried the Smokey Poblano Ranch and the Chipotle Vinaigrette-both were meh; they just didn't really have the kick advertised in the name.  The bread that came with was not yum.  Hard and difficult to rip, the bread resembled the staleness of Communion bread.

Aside from the bowl of disappoint, I did notice that they have a Smoothie Bar.  Maybe its better than the salad section?

  7. I finally had a chance to pop in here (I work literally right here so I don't know what took me so long) and was not disappointed. This location is a million times better than the Maiden Lane location that those of us that are FiDi-based had to struggle with prior to this location finally opening.

The inside is clean to almost the point of being sterile. The manager was walking around and wished me happy holidays as I was leaving. The staff puts a lot of pride into their work and do not chop, add dressing, etc. until they get the okay from you first. Overall, this is a great location and since I love salad, I look forward to visiting it a lot more often.

  8. A reasonable, healthy lunch option in the Financial District area. Just Salad, is more than just salad.

You can build your own or customize any of their salad options, and even turn your salad into a wrap for a few bucks!

The line gets pretty long during lunch time, and you will feel rushed, but it doesn't take too long to get your order chopped, tossed, and ready to go.

All salads come with bread, and some options are extra – but if you buy one of their reusable bowls, you get 2 regular toppings, or 1 cheese for free!

Great place to go for a healthy lunch!
