A long morning of walking down town New York ended at Kaffe 1668 in TriBeCa. A quick hello, an order and a huge reclaimed wood table to sit and enjoy a rest.
The environment is busy a tad noisy with the full store on a hot day (almost 90 degrees f outside) wifi was a simple question to a dude behind the counter.
Nice coffee shop.
The coffee scene is pretty crowded in NYC and Kaffe 1668 are one of several places that do a decent job of their speciality coffee. At this location in Tribeca they offer a large range of coffee roasted by Landskap Roastery in Brokklyn. There is usually at least 6-8 different beans to choose from as hand-brews and in addition to that there is of course espresso based beverages.
They offer a good range of baked goods, pastries and some simple cafe dishes (yogurt, salads etc). The space is nice and light. There is a large communal table in the front and then smaller tables in the back. Free wifi makes it possible to sit and work while enjoying the coffee.
The service is fine, a bit stressed at times but in general friendly. My main objection is that the coffee is good but not great, a little bit similar to all too many of the third wave coffee places in NYC they do a decent job while not really reaching the heights of the really good ones elsewhere.
Still Kaffe 1668 is a good place, and especially on weekends when it tends to be a bit calmer it is nice to lounge here.
One of my fav neighborhood spots to grab a latte and work. Big open tables with such a relaxing feel. It's a small space but it's never overly crowded and I've always found a seat.
Cute decor, good service and great drinks, what more could you ask for?
This is one of those smaller, trendy cafes where you have to wait for limited seating to open up, and you're really impatient about the people sitting for hours working on their screenplay, but the second you get a seat you wind up setting up camp and doing the same thing.
Coffee itself is pretty good too. If you're not a coffee person, try the Ice Chocolate Drink, which is exactly what it sounds like. Bathroom was closed when I was here last time and was told to use the one at Barnes and Noble right across the street. Was it actually out of order, or do they just not like sharing their bathroom with people? Someone who has the answer to this please message me lol.
Anyway, I'd probably come here again if I'm in the area.
This is small and trendy with a dark and cozy atmosphere. Downstairs are the bathrooms along with some cramped bench seating. Like many coffee places, it seems to have become more popular than it can handle. The coffee itself is fine, but it can get crowded at the weirdest times.
They have a selection of beans and the seating is cramped but typical of any business in NYC. On the bright side, it's still better than anything in Europe. I'd say this is a great place for a date if you can come at time when it's empty. There isn't much of a staff to interact with. They are all busy making orders. You should be easily be able to talk, and once you've set up camp, people are pretty respectful of your coat placeholder as you go to get a refill.
Overall, this isn't a place of much noteworthiness, but it's fine by my books.
A really weird coffee shop with virtually no lighting and odd climate control (huge blaring fans that get the job done in some areas of the shop but not others). The speakeasy mood is kind of nice if you're in that kind of mood.
I can't get down with the P2P (Price to Portions) ratio here: $4 for a cup of ice tea!
This lovely coffee shop is located near Freedom Tower and was the perfect respite after a long day of walking. It's dim and cozy without being dark and depressing.
Solid iced latte, ample seating, friendly baristas.
The service is super friendly and genuine. My friend ordered a cold coffee and it was great! I ordered a latte and it was disgusting. It was like the milk was spoiled or the water wasn't good. I'm a latte queen, because that is all I ever order when I want coffee. So I know what I'm talking about. Something was off. I even let my friend try it, and he immediately spit it out on the sidewalk and we trashed the whole cup ASAP.
I'd def go back because the guy at the register was very nice to us and the iced coffee was great. So, they deserve a second chance. I would certainly not order the latte again!
Friendly service, clean and spacey, great location.
Check them out!
