  1. Came in for a friends birthday, was a bit of an early start at 5:30 but the place quickly filled up after 6 pm. They had a pretty diverse menu with both rice and noodle dishes, and tons of interesting appetizers.

I'll start by saying it was nice that this is a BYOB establishment, my table had a variety of beer that friends brought, some cognac (not a fan), and even white wine. This certainly helps lower the bill at the end.

The table split a bunch of appetizers, including:
Samosa Trio- filled with cheddar and corn and a nice mild spice.

Calamari Pakora- I dont usualy enjoy calamari or fried food, but they really did nail this pretty well. The squid and breading were well cooked and seasoned.

Chicken Malai Kebab- Well marinated and spiced, wish we had a few more pieces.

The table also split some garlic naan, which despite doing wonders to my breath was a nice side to the main course.

For my entree I elected to get the chicken Korma. I tend to always order Tika Massala so I am glad I zinged and took this chicken baked in an almond cream sauce. It was mildly spiced and was some of the best indian food i've had. They could have given a bit more meat, but to me thats a common issue at indian restaurants.

I also split for desert a fried banana with ice cream, that was a nice closing to what turned into an over 2 hour meal. The service here, while satisfactory was not excellent. They came by our table a bunch of times, but took a while to deliver the appetizers and the desert. It was a nice touch that they gave our friend whose birthday it was, a free desert.

With all that said, this spot compares to any NYC establishment I have frequented and I would make this a regular stop on my rotation if I lived in the ridgewood area.

  2. Seriously amazing Indian food from both the North and South.

    Probably the best I've had.

    Service is excellent.

Go early as the place gets jam packed.

BYO with a liquor store around the corner.

  3. Been here many times over the years and miss that it was once both Thai and Indian.  Recently May 2015 found the Indian cuisine good but menu very limited. The basmati rice appears to be precooked type and "whole wheat" roti were NOT whole wheat and as white as wonder bread. Service very good and clean place. Unfortunately most Indian restaurants in north Jersey are very much non distinctive and quite ordinary.

  4. This place is really nice inside, from the outside not so much. The lunch buffet was a descent size with a range of options. My favorite was the chicken tikka it has to be one of the best that I have ever had. The chicken was unbelievable moist and tender, no knife was needed at all throughout my entire dinning experience. Service was good and attentive not to mention the restaurant was spotless and inviting. Naan bread and something else that looked like crepes were served to every customer as well. I'm in love with Indian bread, so simple but so delicious. Definitely give it a try for lunch, you won't be disappointed.

  5. Cute little Indian place.  It is cozy with white table cloths in a Classic Indian style. There are meat, vegetarian and gluten free options. If you like Indian food and have food restriction, you will be able to find something.

I got a lentil flat bread called dosa to go. It came with a yogurt chutney, some spiced potato and a vegetable stew like side. It was fresh, well prepared and had the perfect amount spice for my taste. It was about $10 for the dish but if I had just that for dinner I would not remain hungry. There was enough food.

From a quick look at the entrees, they were about $18 and included a protein, vegetables and rice.

On a Thursday night the place was not packed but the phone was ringing for delivery/ pickup orders.

For my purposes, the place had gluten free options and is conveniently located across from the art school that was doing a BYOB painting event. The place was convenient and the food heat the spot.

  6. Excellent Indian food with good service, at least for take out. Parking is always a pain in Ridgewood, but this is at least close to the metered lot. The ambiance is nice and somewhat upscale. Service was very friendly and quick though we only did takeout. The food was excellent and has some interesting items that differentiates it from other Indian restaurants. The calamari was an interesting take on the dish and went great with the tangy chili sauce. The variety of samosas were a bit small, but tasty. The naan stuffed with peppers and cheese was awesome and needed for soaking up the left over sauce from the curry. The chicken Goan was a bit different than those I've had, but very tasty, tangy, and the chicken cooked perfectly. Perfect place for takeout.

  7. Came here for the lunch buffet and really enjoyed it. The food was all excellent, in both taste and quality. The service was also really good- the waiter made sure my water glass was always full, checked on me and cleared my plates several times, and was just generally nice/helpful. I like that they actually bring you a naan basket to your table as opposed to making them in bulk and leaving them at the buffet which leads to hard naan which isn't very good. The naan basket also had some dosas which isn't something I have seen at most other Indian buffets (especially on weekdays). At first, I wondered why they only gave me 1 naan in the basket but it actually worked out well because after I finished it, they quickly brought over another hot and fresh naan that had clearly just been made. The naan was really good too, most likely in large part because it was so fresh.

My favorite item from the buffet was the gobi (cauliflower) manchurian. It was really tasty and had a slight kick to it but was not overwhelmingly spicy (and I have no tolerance for spicy food). They have a ton of variety of buffet items; everything I had was quite good. The cost for the buffet is only $10 which is definitely good value for how many options there are. I am not giving them five stars because there were a few things I felt could be improved (the lamb curry, kadhi [yogurt based curry with pakoda/fritters], chicken tikka). However, definitely four stars for what I had here.

  8. This was my first time eating Indian food in NJ and I have to say this place was worth the visit. I came from the city for my friends birthday, and we had a reservation for 5:30, everything was smooth (expect for the parking in Ridgewood, but that's another rant).

The restaurant is well lighted and comfortable. It's perfect for a big group or a date. We sampled a bunch of appetizers as a table and they were all tasty (especially the grilled chicken pieces). For my entree, I tried the Country Chicken Curry. I don't normally eat spicy food, so I asked for mild. They came back to me 5 minutes later and told me they could only do mild-medium for the dish. I okayed it, but the food had a bit more kick than I liked. Still, it was full of flavor and paired well with the white rice.

The rest of my party enjoyed their meals. The fried banana dessert was well worth the $6 price tag as well. Overall, we each spent $40 with tip for a meal that I thought was delicious and left us all full. I took one star off because the service was a little slow and they forgot a few small requests they made. I recommend this Indian restaurant highly though.
