The service here was beyond what I could ask for! My boyfriend and I walked in at around 2AM thinking that we were going to be turned away. Instead, we were seated despite the fact that they were cleaning up- making it seem like they were ready to close. I guess not because a few parties walked in even past us- so get your late night Korean BBQ fix here! The interior of this place seems a little dingy but hits close to my Korean roots when you notice that it had been set up to look like those traditional outdoor restaurants/ bars you can find back in Korea. My boyfriend and I ordered the naengmyun and pork belly- sahmgyupsahl. They gave us odeng, steamed eggs and a salad. My boyfriend also ordered a "small" beer, which actually was pretty large in size. The bill came out to about $40 before tax- not bad at all. The naengmyun tasted very traditional- it wasn't that spicy so you could definitely add more mustard to it when it comes down to that. The sahmgyupsahl was packed with flavor as they were served with grilled onions and mushrooms. I will definitely be coming back here in the future- especially due to its very extended hours, especially since all nearby restaurants are closed at that hour.
It's a small, divey KBBQ joint in Murray Hill. We ordered beef rib and the makchang, which is cow intestine.
There was a lot of variety in the side dishes, lots of weird little stuff that I wouldn't think of as "standard" side dishes. They had cold acorn jelly soup as well as fish cake soup. This suggested that the place was primarily geared for drinking, which we were not there for. It wasn't particularly tasty but it was interesting.
The meat quality was meh. It was okay, but if I cooked at home, I would be able to get better quality meat. And honestly, there wasn't much done to prepare there meat so the taste and texture was not anything special. They didn't burn the meat, which was good.
The makchang was delicious. I know offal has a tendency to divide people, but I've eaten all sorts of weird parts of cows before so it was fine. It was worth the money for me because I wouldn't be able to have that at home, since it's a huge pain to clean that stuff out.
I think the service probably would have been better if we were drinking while we were eating. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant on a busy night, so that might also have something to do with it. We had to try hard to hail someone down for water and napkins. It was a bit understaffed.
Overall, I might try here again for more unusual cuts of meat, but I would not really want to come otherwise unless I was planning to drink.
New spot so we decided to stop in and try it out. Small tables and some had grills directly on the table and some didn't. Not very spacious if you're ordering a lot of food. This place is ideal for drinking and snacks/late night bites. I don't think they can fit big parties here. Food was not bad…but I've had better. They had doors open and a fan blowing to keep air flowing. This place was just average to me.
Ever since I saw this place, I've been wanting to try it out even though I'm not big on bbq. Esp pork. But boy oh boy! This place is great!!! -No one will leave here disatisfied. Almost guaranteed.
First off, service is perfect. Esp with a full house, your server will make sure you are taken care of.
Meats have no complaints. I tried 2 difderent types of meat with some unease but I was WOWED. Also, anyone who loves bbq will love this place. The atmosphere is very casual and just a fun place to go with anyone to eat and share drinks with.
Although there is only 1 common restroom for men and women to use, it's spacious and kept clean which is always a huge plus for me in any place.
& this place opens till 3 AM so anyone can enjoy late night good eats!
