A quiet Monday we found an empty place, so we were the only ones there. No background music so it was very quiet and I felt like everything I said could be heard by the staff. The staff was friendly and service was fast. Mondays through Fridays they offer a lunch special for $9.95 which includes an appetizer, entree and drink (coffee, tea or soda). A really good deal and the portions are generous.
To start we opted for the Hummus and the Piyaz salad. The hummus was a bit coarser than you see elsewhere, but the taste was great and even offered up a hint of spice. The warm pita served along with the hummus was chewy and delicious. The Piyaz included Turkish white beans, onions, parsley and tomatoes. It was tangy and fresh, really good.
Entrees were the Kofte Kebab which was flavorful ground lamb served with rice, salad and yogurt sauce on the side. The Iskender Kebab was like nothing I've had. Thin slices of lamb piled over pieces of pita and a tomato garlic sauce with yogurt sauce. I was pleasantly surprised and wanted to keep eating it even though awhile the pita got a bit soggy, but the flavor was good.
The food quality was good and everything was enjoyable especially for the price, it was a great deal.
I've been meaning to review the Kebab House! I actually came here for my first date with my boyfriend, which was eons ago. Not really, but it's been almost five years. Anyways, this is where I tried Turkish food for the first time! I ordered 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, and desert. Everything was very tasty and I have very fond memories of this place. I am also a very slow eater and we sat in the restaurant for almost 3 hours. They didn't kick us out, which I appreciate. Overall, I had a great experience!
